Our society played here last week and was pleasantly impressed with layout and the challenge it offered. Considering the amount of traffic this course must get through out the year, the green staff do a great job to keep the course at such a good standard.
A couple of tips, stay out of the ditches and the bunkers. The ditches because their depth makes any shot out almost impossible, and the bunkers because of the lack of rakes, but it is obvious each bunker is raked daily by staff and then left to await visitors.
The staff in pro shop and in the bar were very helpful, the three-course meal was excellent and served at a time that was chosen by us. Overall a good day at a reasonable cost on a course that could show some private clubs how to make golfers welcome and offer value for money.

A great spring and summer track, some outstanding holes of great variety particularly the opening ones which begin with a nice looking but tricky par three and monster uphill blind dog leg par four that would be a stroke index 1 on almost any course
A couple of wek holes begin the back nine but overall a first class course and excellent value for money.
Clubhouse vastly improved of late

I play this course twice a week all year round and have done for two years. I and my friends often ask 'why pay high fees to play next door when we have a course like this. It is so well managed and the new club house puts many private ones to shame. My credits go to Golf Courses Management who manage the course for the local authority but especially to the ground staff who work tirelessly to maintain the excellent condition of the course all year round.

Nice little public course, literally next door to more illustrious Northwood, but shares the same soil. Unusually, it starts with a par three. Then a series of par 4s running rather close together. Some interesting holes, although the back 9 is quite easy. My playing partner Rob Morris (18 handicap - slices but great short game) managed to par it and went home thinking that he had "made it" only to be disillusioned when we played Northwood a few weeks later, where he went round in 22 over!
