I occasionally played this course years ago, but it became rundown, so i stopped playing there which was a shame as it is a very friendly club and magnificent course. Recently i have heard the the new owners were getting the place back into shape so i have played a few rounds this summer. The course is ok, not good but much better than before, the old proshop has re-opened and the clubhouse has had a makeover too, much better than before. There is only one problem, it seems as if every yob in the area has taken up golf.

There is no dress code, you can play barechested and in workboots if you wish, there is no etiquette, anyone is allowed to play, 5 ball, 6 ball, it doesn't matter. On speaking to some members , there has been a lot of problems with theft (from cars and changing rooms) vandalism (cars and course) and verbal abuse, but because management needs the money they allow the yobs to use the facilities.

I recommend playing this course once, just for the experience, it is very very special, but it is not a place i would want to spend too much time at.

This place justifiably has a fearsome reputation but I've always wanted to play it, if only to say I had done it! The lack of any sort of course guide/strokesaver in the pro shop is almost a violation of human rights and makes playing this course well, virtually impossible for the first-timer. The greens were hard and therefore difficult to hold the ball. The areas around the greens also need some attention. At times it felt like I was chipping out of someone's flowerbed/vegetable plot. But all credit to the new owners. They are trying to improve things and everyone was very friendly. Some of the holes, notably the 15th, were stunning and worthy of any golf course. Playing this course in the spring with the trees in leaf and the bluebells out made the views all the more spectacular and the experience all the more enjoyable. Don't be put off. Give it a go.

The greens need quite a bit of TLC but with alnmost every hole being isolated from another by mature trees this course could be really really special. I think you should always walk a course the first time you play it but it will take stamina and determination onthis mountainous course. When you go into the pro shop to pay your green fee notice the look of amazement when you say you want to play 18 holes.

If you have a rich relative with a dodgy heart this is the place to bring them. The inheritance will be yours!!!

This is a very challenging course, but well worth the effort. Only the first two holes are on level terrain, thereafter the course is as much a test of mountaineering ability as golf. All the fairways are adjoined by mature woods, making wayward tee shots very costly. Take plenty of water and a packed lunch.

Unbelievably hard. Claims to be par 71 whilst having 5 holes which would qualify as stroke index 1 on any normal difficulty course. 14th hole is ludicrous, a par 4 with a par 5 length all uphill with a severe dogleg left onto a vicious green. Very dangerous aswell, advise taking flares, overnight camping equipment and rations for several days. Never play alone. Take out life insurance before departing. No professional has ever got below or level with par. Never a flat lie, ball is always on a slope. Never play after rain, The course gets saturated and the ball plugs in the fairway. Good luck to all who attempt, and good riddance for their stupidity.
