I've played here twice now because I am working in the area for a couple of months and have nejoyed it both times (May 2008). Current green fee during the week has been £10 for 18 holes which I consider to be very good value. Yes, the fairways are not great with quite a few weeds although these had been treated the last time I played. The greens are very even in pace but are left fairly long at times giving a slow pace. The bunkers still have rock hard builders sand in them but I believe the new owners are putting in much time, effort and money to make further improvements and proper sand is high on the list.
The layout is well signposted making it easy to find your way around which is more than I can say for some courses charging three times this amount. The course itself is quite tight in places and is a good challenge. The staff and members are friendly and welcoming.
All in all for £10 you cannot expect to get a pristine course that is fully manicured but I doubt you will get any better value and a better challenge for this sort of money so please give it a go.

Ive played here a few times only because its local (about 2mins from my house) - but would not reccommend this to anyone who enjoys a well maintained golf course. In summer the greens are bare and because there is no sprinkler system in place, very dry and impossible to make your ball 'stick'. In winter, because there is no drainage, the fairways are very boggy and sometimes left for weeks without a cut. However it is a tough course and a great test of golf, just dont expect anything too much after/before your rounds in the way of food or refreshments. There is just a portacabin on entrance which is like a tap room when you go in.
This course has so much potential, the holes are positioned well and has the makings of an awesome course. the basics would make it a good course. however if you want to spend £20+ on golf look elsewhere because this isnt worth the money.
