4 of us played the West Mids Nov 16th our first impression was very good the club house is a very nice looking building with a warm friendly atmosphere inside food and drinks were very reasonable. We played the course on a twilight deal so only paid £14 each this is fantastic value for money with a buggy fitted with sat nav only a further £12. The course is very new only 3yrs old I beleive but it proved to be a good test for us, give it a few yrs for some of the younger trees to grow and your going have a hell of a course on your hands. One or two of the fairways are a little close together but not in my opinion dangerously so. Then you get to the 18th, 144yrd par 3 nothing to be afraid of there, exept its all over water a great finishing hole I am sure there will be many club competitions won and lost on this one.

ALL IN ALL A GREAT YOUNG COURSE THAT COME HIGHLY RECCOMENDED

I am 15 years old and i have played at this course twice now, and i have to say i was REALLY impressed. The course is quite challenging to start off with but as you progress they start to get slightly easier. The staff treated us with respect, despite the fact that we were visitors. The off-site facilities were great. We went into the clubhouse after our round and the view of the 18th green is simply astounding. We did laugh at the people who didn't manage to make it on to the green aswell!! I think that the 18th is a very skillful hole. It reminds me constantly of the 17th at TPC of Sawgrass. I did manage to land on the green both times, and i did manage to par the hole both times too!! I do like this course very much. Especially the 2nd where i managed to get my first ever green in one with a clean 3 wood. The 3rd hole looks challenging but infact, it isn't. A good drive will set you up nicely for a straight shot to land 50 yards short of the green, then a nice chip on and 2putt your way to par. I must mention though that the hole is 582 yards!! I thought that my first round of 98 was good, considering that i had only been playing for 14 months, but then about 6 weeks later i came and shot a 93. I was really pleased with my performance, mostly because it was VERY windy. The course is definitley one of the best in the Midlands. I would recommend this course to people who want to improve their short game, because the greens are very tough. Although i have played on more difficult courses than this, for example, Brandon Wood, i do think this is a skillful and tough course.

I have played West Midlands regularly for the past few months and have found it probably the best "visitors welcome" course in the area. The staff are very helpful and the clubhouse is very grand, with a great spike bar and outdoor patio overlooking the infamous 18th hole island green.

It's not cheap to play in the morning at weekends, put after midday and then again after 3pm green fees are reduced. The course is young, but growing up very well, and was built around al lot of existing trees and foliage. It has its fair share of long and challenging holes, and offers a good game for both high and low handicap golfers (my golfing buddy and i respectively). The 3rd is a particularly challenging hole, requiring a good second shot to set you up for your approach to a very tight green cut into the slope of the hill. There's a couple of holes (12 & 8 spring to mind) where there is a large exapanse of unused land to the right of the fairways, which seems wasted.

The Par 5s on the course play very well... on a good day the 12th can be reached in two, although the good S.I.I means this is a higher index hole. The greens are in good condition overall and the fairways are well kept as are the bunkers. The course has lots of ponds and water, with excellent fishing facilities. Having played there after some serious flooding in the local area i can safely say the drainage on the course is excellent (minus the 15th).

A special mention must go the buggies with GPS Sat Nav showing precise distances and hole layouts as well as a digital scorecard and the ability to order food from the clubhouse on your way round for when you finish. My only gripe is the GPS rarely matches up with the yarage markers on course.

Overall i would recommend West Mids to all, just make sure you know where you're heading before hand as it isn't very well signposted.

Played 11th July 2006, as not the greatest of golfers myself and a friend spent most of the front 9 holes looking for balls, especially the "Blind" second hole, this was due to our bad play and not course desig. Was a lovely day weather wise and found the course both challenging and varied. The greens were well kept and ran true. Extremely pleased that we both hit the green on the Island 18th with our first shots as it was lunchtime and the patio was packed with people ready to laugh if we had splashed down! An excellent Pro shop and 19th hole for afterwards. Very impressed and will be returning tomorrow.

The course as other people have said is still a bit young. Some of the holes are tight, dificult to follow & dangerous when side by side

A course planner would help but as ever £3 on top of green fees put's you off

Greens were not very clever along with the tees but then again in January it's better than temporary greens etc

Quite muddy & slippery around the tees & greens beware

Sadly dissapointing. The Clubhouse is grand by design and very accomadating as are the staff however, there is a concrete path all the way around the course. Although this is great for buggies I would rather the managment had spent the money creating a more considerate course with much better greens. Frankly the greens were appaling and the tees had not been cut for probably a week+. What seems nonesense is that off yellow tees you have a monster 583 par 5 followed by a 99 yard par 3. I really belive the setting is capable of providing a decent course but I would suggest this is some years off. Do not play this course just for the 18th, although it is a great hole (one of the best i have ever played) you will spend the other 17 (and probably 5 hrs) waiting for it to come around.
