A superb golf course...can't speak too highly of it.The fairways and greens were in fabulous condition ,the tees were Ok but maybe a litte room for improvement there. Every hole was a different experience testing every aspect of one's game.
The 150 markers were white discs in fairway, but posts at edge of fairway wouldn't cost a great deal but would be a great benefit to visitors.
But all in all a must for your diary...especialy when you consider only £13 a round!

The crawford course is certanitly for beginers. The greens were nice and the tee's were in good condition for april. There could be a little more water hazerds on the course. Overall i was pleased with who the course was. It was well worth £3.50. Great practice facilits. The staff in the proshop were kind and helpful. The course is probebly one of the best 9 holers in this area.

I've played this course a few times now although i'm not a member. It provides a good challenge, particularly the front 9 which include some very picturesque holes including the par 5 4th, and dog leg par 4 9th.
The facilities are good and the staff very helpful, and at just £8 for a round after 4pm its perfect for those of us looking for a quick 9 holes after work on summer evenings.

Played the 18 hole course last weekend in a charity event and was generally impressed. The holes were in good nick and were a bit much for some of the beginners in our society. I've got to mention about the course marshall or whatever he classes himself as. He seemed to resent anyone playing his course and nearly ruined the day for our group by initially refusing to let one chap play without proper golf shoes on and not offering him a refund either. Luckily the lad in the pro-shop was a decent chap and lent us a spare pair of shoes, so thank you to him. Also, the bar and catering staff were superb and made us feel very welcome indeed.
Anyway I'd say it is well worth a visit. I played to my handicap comfotably on my first visit but the competition tees looked a bit fierce so I doubt that would have been the case if I'd played off them.
PS. One more thing, they advertise the "himalayan" putting green everywhere, but don't expect to be allowed to use it even if you have paid top whack for the day. It's a further £3.00 each (as that marshall delighted in telling us).

Played the 9-hole Crawford course today at Haigh Hall and left a little bit disappointed than what I was expecting.
From the tee boxes it was hard to distinguish the fairways from the rough and there were weeds everywhere. The bunkers were a bit shallow but were well maintained. The greens were fit-for-purpose but some were looking tired.
It is a shame to be saying these negatives as although it is a challenge for anyone and a great way to hone your short game, the course has great potential if the condition was a little better.
It is well used by everyone though and I suppose it might be general wear and tear but come on, the whole site was only refurbished a few years ago and is now looking tired.
For the price, it is great if anyone wants just a round of 9 holes and can't afford to go on the 18 hole.
The 18 hole Balcarres course looked good and it seems that they are more interested in promoting that course rather than the 9 hole.
The clubhouse is well stocked and staff are very friendly.
Overall, the 9 hole is fine who only wants a round of 9 holes at a low cost, but more serious golfers may be disappointed.
