Eight of us played 27 holes yesterday and all enjoyed the course very much. I can endorse all the previous positive comments. There is a good variety of holes, and fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The decent weather for a change meant that we could enjoy the lovely views too. We received a warm welcome from staff and members alike. If you are playing 9 holes and want to return to the clubhouse, follow the signs for the short nine and don't play the normal 8th and 9th, which leaves you a long way away from your (excellent) lunch. I will certainly make the 1hr 30 journey from the Fylde coast again, provided there's a good weather forecast for the Appleby area!

Played 36 holes on a wet & windy April day with my wife. The scenery is stunning. The greens are testing, quick with subtle humps and hollows. The fairways are generous, at that time the rough was easily playable. Each hole was different, the par 3 4th and 15th being memorable.
Well worth a visit.

A genuinely enjoyable challenge awaits anyone who's willing to travel out of their way to find this crackerjack of a course. We played after Xmas and were amazed to be playing to regular greens, which were in incredibly good condition (even though we were told they weren't in tiptop shape). Fairways were great and even recovery shots from the moorland rough were not punishing. The 15th is a mini-beast and plays much longer than the 160yd winter tee suggests - take one extra club and give it all you've got! The course has no par-5 holes, and, while this makes it very accessible to high handicappers, it is no less challening for single-figure players. There are many risk-reward shots on offer and the greens were very receptive to aggressive approach play. Keep it straight and you'll score well (easy to say). The pro, the barman and catering staff all gave us a very welcoming reception and I would highly recommend the course to anyone in the area.

Played the course late August, and must say that it is a hidden gem.
AS reported before it has no par 5's but more than makes up for this with some interesting par 4's and two of the best par 3's that I have seen.
Greens were in perfect condition, fairways were tight and hard to find, but the rough is very forgiving (used the same ball for two rounds!!).
Well worth a visit, and well worth the green fees.

What an excellent course. The first 2 holes give no clue about the next 2 which both have plenty of "wow" and "how am I going to play that" factor. The greens were in teriffic condition and obviously have someone who knows what they're doing looking after them. An added bonus for me was that being moorland, mishit balls are easily found. However the flipside for me was that the wind wasn't consistent when I needed it. I will definately be recommending it to friends.

PLeyed on a windy rainy day - the pro thought I was nuts and gave me a discount for my effort! The course was great - really challenging. TH e15th par 3 is amazing. I got par of course (by luck more than judgement!)
The weather cleared and I was treated to splendid views and a great round.
I've only played for three months and found it quite a tough course due to the large amount of rough and I managed 100 which I was happy with.
Nice beer!
