Played here midweek November 06.
Basically , not as good as i was expecting considering it's at the higher end of the market green fee wise.
Traditional club & the course is easy walking & is cut through woodland.
When you arrive you can see holes from the road & it looks encouraging .The first 3 holes are promising & quite classy with similarities to The Berkshire .Although the holes carry on through woodland i found the rest of the course a bit uninspiring .
Potentially with it's setting & the tree lined nature it could have been memorable but there was something missing here for me .
Looking back there weren't any real standout holes & there was also a slight lack of variety. With it's setting there was an opportunity for some nice short par threes in the trees but instead you only get three & all of them quite long.
While it's pleasant enough , overall a triumph of style over substance.

Played this course and found it to be an excellent test of golf especially the par threes which will require mid to long irons. Rewards good golf but any balls off line look out as many trees will gladly welcome your errant shot. Course undergoing extensive draining work will be a cracker when finnished.

Course played 23/07/01; not bad condition and fairly challenging. Watch out for some strange rules about sock colours worn with shorts!
Gordon Ross (uk) 09/11/99
I played this course in September 1999. It is an attractive parkland/heathland course that is challenging without being overly testing. It has a gentle start (easy par 5 followed by a couple of short par 4's). Green fees were good (£36 per day) but I would not recommend that you play as a single player as the members will ask to play through! Overall though, well worth the money.
