This course is a must play at least once.
If you like links golf and live inland then this is about as close as it gets.
Many holes have blind tee shots and a lot have blind 2nd or 3rd shots too.
Quality of the greens and fairways was very good even after the amount of rain when we played.
To play this course well you need to think your way round it and have luck on your side as the fairways dip and rise all over.
It is however almost impossible to play it for the first time without a member or someone with knowledge of the course.
On my first visit I shot 82 playing off a 10 handicap , a score to be very pleased with if you talk to the membership.
There are basic but clean dressing rooms and a good size bar, although not the most friendly and welcoming.
There is no pro shop so green fees must be paid to the steward in the club house bar.
The usual dress code for golf is strictly enforced
so no trainers and jeans Etc.
Give this course a go and you will see why it produced many a top player.

As previous stated a real test. A very old course that makes use of the natural features. Plenty of hills and swales, firm fairways with blind tee and approach shots galore. Greens were very receptive and true. You definately get the feeling this is were golf was designed to be played. The club house looks nearly as old as the course, but locker room was up to date and food was basic but fresh and well priced. Moans -It would benefit from more direction markers and signs green to tee particularly as the scorecard map is pointless and there's no strokesaver available but I guess that adds to the experience. Our only major criticism was the reception received. The staff were not openly friendly or particularly helpful. One member (in every sense!) took great pleasure in pointing out rules regarding dress code as one of our party put on his cap some 10 feet from the door when getting up to leave! Note - there is no pro shop you sign in at the bar.

Just had a thoroughly enjoyable round on this course. Pretty tough, but rewards brave driving. A number of blind tee shots and one or two blind fairway shots increased the difficulty of the course. Good greens and large teeing areas and a huge variety of holes. Too many feature holes to remember, but stroke index 2 was exceptionally difficult. Incredibly tight, with OOB both sides. Par 5 15th was a superb hole. Blind uphill tee shot, tight blind second shot over a hill with trees both sides, then a short iron to a double green. Great course. Friendly members and bar staff. Recommended.

an excellent course that provides a test of golf for the low handicapper.
It is easy to understand why this course has
created 3 ryder cup players and 2 silver medalists
A MUST.
