Just played course for the first time and was pleasantly surprised for a council run course. It had rained heavily all day, but the course and the greens seem to drain well. From what I could tell there are rakes in all bunkers, but the sand is quite thin and there are numerous stones (in the few bunkers I found). A good challenge for the average weekend golfer, with well place trees and bunkers. The 5th/14th is tough with a long carry between trees to the fairway. Could maybe do with being a little longer. Staff were helpful and friendly.

A perfect 9 hole course for beginners, made up mainly of shortish par 4's with half the course being quite wide and open while the middle holes bring more hills and woodland into play. Well placed bunkers leave you with lots of decisions to make while the greens can be quite tricky, making this not only ideal for beginners but anyone wanting a bit of cheap practice.
Is usually in decent condition though there are no rakes in bunkers, possibly due to local kids though I've never seen these cause any problems.
Decent enough facilities and a nice bar, could maybe just do with a proper Pro's shop.
Only bad thing that because it is aimed at beginners, you do often get caught behind hackers who don't know what playing through is.

First lets get the costs right £8.75 per round for 18 or 9 holes . If you ontend to play the latter its thus expensive . The course itself is a bit on the short side but does have a few interesting holes .A s reported before the biggest problems are the poor bunkers with no rakes and the tootal lack of course directions .Had I not played with a local I would not have found my way round .3/10 .

This course represents very good value for money. It is inexpensive and is reasonably well kept. The bunkers and the directions around the course being down points, but more importantly the fairways and greens are good. Hole 3 used to be a par 4 (until a nearby resident's has his roof hit too many times!), but is now a par 3 (new cards I was told are being printed). Hole 8 is excellent; fairly long with a difficult sloping green. Hole 5 is also quite testing as you have to get your tee shot over a fair dip and trees to reach the fairway. Overall I would say this is a particularly good course for beginners and for those wishing to keep their swing going. The first time you play it, get hold of a map around the course.

Played on Saturday 25th September 1999 even after severe downpours and heavy rain the course still played very well. The greens were superb considering the amount of rain they must have consumed.
An excellent course and a definate challenge for any serious player. Plenty of bunkers make it an enjoyable round of golf.
