I played the course for the first time today as part of a four ball and I must say I was extremeley impressed considering this is a municipal course in the middle of a very wet winter.
The fairways were firm and in fantastic condition, as were the tees & greens. There were only two temp greens and only two or three winter tees. As a new player I found the course fairly challenging, however for those with a lower handicap who can hit a ball straight they shouldn't have to many problems!!
For the price of £13.00 for the 18 holes and £3.oo for a cooked breakfast and a cup of tee, what great value for a mornings golf.
The golf shop appeared very well stocked and the staff were welcoming & friendly.

I have been a member of this course for over two years now. It is a great course for begginers and players to learn on as there are not many challeging holes on the first nine. The second nine is a bit more challenging with the two par fives and more obsticals including a lake on one hole. Well worth playing the course as it is cheap and cators for most players.

Belhus was the first course I ever played. Since then (only a couple of years back) the course has vastly improved. There appears to have been a change of owner or management around a year and a half ago and they have done a fantastic job. Taking into account the price you pay both the greens and fairways are in excellent condition, the layout on the back half is very interesting, particularly the 15th with a lake around the 180 mark. The up and down nature of the 2nd to 7th holes is a little dull but helpful if you're wayward off the tee. All round, at the price, one of the better courses in this part of essex

Im a 7 handicapper and i have been member of belhus for nearly a year now and i think it a gr8 course i have played many other courses such as south essex, maydyke, cranham and many more and althought this is relativly cheap compard to them it is great value for money and i think it is much more challenging and better maintain than the other well worth a visit.
The course is relatively small but the course is renowed for its tight fairway and high established trees but most of all its postcode greens which i must say are in excellent condition

Just finished playing this lovely course today. my father and i tee'd off at 2.45 pm and due to this only paid £6.50 each as from 2.30 pm weekdays, the club runs a 'twilight' session.
we played up to the 12th due to excessive tiredness and impending rain. we could have easily completed all 18 before dusk. what a bargain!
so.. the course, well i personally thought for the little cost it is very good, quite challenging front 9 with tree lined fairways, precariously played binkers and ditches. all greens were in good condition, fairways were pleasent and tee's looked good (we had to play off of winter tee's).
as i mentioned, we only played to the 12th hole but found no's 10 - 12 more open with bigger greens (i was 4ft from the hole after 2 shots on the par 3 11th - which was amazing, baring in mind this is my 1st ever round on a full sized course and i've only been hitting clubs for just over 3 weeks).
so all in all i highly recommend this course to beginners and mid handicap players. the course also offers a teabar, 19th hole or bar, pro shop and driving range for that all important warm up before embarking on the course.
