Played early December, as far as condition of both course and Greens were concerned it could have been Summer. Superb Course nowonder it is an Open Qualifier. Staff were friendly and helpful, we even enjoyed the food & the Pinotage at £10 per bottle is a snip. Great Day.

A gentle course for gentlemen. Set in scenic near parkland with tree lined fairways it was in good nick.[End October].
Very old fashioned, no bad thing if that's what you like. Some strange customs remeniscent of PG Woodhouse's days, no forks allowed, for example in certain public rooms. This led to the bizarre offer of a cake fork so I could eat my sandwich [I don't eat bread and after being refused the contents on a plate this was their compromise to comply with the rules.]
The impression was of exclusivity and we felt 'observed' at all times.
For a club proclaiming to seek visitors they don't quite get it yet- the 21st century -I mean.
If you don't let all that put you off this has got be in most persons top 100 courses.
Bill.

Blackwell is a course full of character with many memorable holes. Fairways & Greens are excellent.
This course is a real golfing challenge. With punishing rough, the key to success is hitting the fairways.
Whilst wayward & high handicap golfers would find Blackwell extremely difficult, mid & low handicap golfers would find this course a real challenge.
Blackwell is a hidden gem.
