After a ten year break from Golf it was back too my roots which is Brandhall. I have to say it was a pleasure to be back at my old stomping ground!!

The course remains to be ny favorite of all the municiple's in the area. I was disapointed at the state of some of the greens with mud and sand on them but what do you expect for £12.

The first time I revisited some of the bunkers were being revamped and it was more like playing out of a building site than a bunker, this I am glad to say has been retified and as we draw into the summer months it is proving to be a well maintained and enjoyable course.

A visit to Peters Hut is well worth the effort to collect a truely delightful bacon sarnie on crusty!! mmmm. All I would say is give Brandhall a try you wont be disapointed.

Not a bad layout for a municipal course, the problems being that it is often busy and slow play is caused by occasional golfers, who also do nothing for the upkeep of the course by leaving pitchmarks and divots in their wake.

First and 15th holes the best, some short par 4's making this a relatively easy course to play.

Worth a visit at the price.

Nice course to play, the first hole is a tough one to start off with but it gets much easier after that, but well worth playing.

Considering this is a municipal course, it is a real challenge, a delight to play, and every round is different.

The 1st is a down and up hole, a long drive from the tee leaves an uphill iron to a long narrow green, well protected by bunkers, accuracy is essential.

The short second is bordered by trees on the right, but is relatively straight forwards.

The short third is tricky, trees and rough down the left and rough on the right. Green is pleasant enough.

The 4th is uphill with a sloping green well protected with bunkers. A challenge but an accurate tee shot will make life much more simple.

The 5th is a tough tough hole. The green is hidden behind trees on the right, and trees on the left leave a narrow fairway. Take on the trees with a 5 wood or play safe with an iron.

The 6th is short and straight, easy enough.

The 7th is a monster. A long drive uphill over the brook leaves a long uphill iron shot to a blind green. The green slopes downhill with a brook 2 feet off the back. Hard hole of golf.

The 8th plays across the 7th fairway, uphill with a raised green, banked sharply on all sides. Plenty of backspin is needed to keep the ball. Anything too hard and kiss goodbye to the ball.

The short 9th needs an accurate iron over a lake onto a small green with bunkers left and right...you will probably find most of the golf balls I have lost on this course in the lake.

The 10th is a left/right dogleg, heavy woodland down the right and the green cannot be seen. Green is long and thin, sloping uphill right to left.

The 11th is fairly straight forward, a long tee shot should leave a wedge onto a tight green. Beware the huge bunker front right of the green, you need a ladder to get out!

The short 12th presents no major problems, short with a large green, birdies are infinately possible.

A blind tee shot over a ridge on the 13th, should leave a wedge onto a left right sloping green.

The 14th needs an easy 3 wood, before an iron onto a very small green, surrounded by very big bunkers...enough said.

The long straight 15th is one of the best holes on the course. There is a lake at driving distance. Dropping short of the lake leaves an uphill iron shot to a right to left downhill sloping raised green, which sits about 30 feet above your ball. Very very tough.

The 16th is a right to left dogleg, teeing off onto a steeply sloping fairway, leaving an iron to yet another raised green, made even harder by steep downhill banks on one side, trees and bunkers on the other.

The 17th has a narrow fairway reached by teeing off over a valley filled with thick thick rough. An accurate iron is needed to hit the green which is once again sloped and banked wickedly.

The short 18th in front of the clubhouse, is straight and narrow, needing a nice iron, to finish off the round with a birdie.

The course has been much improved in the last few years and is the best Municipal Course I have ever played. A difficult as many private courses, a round here will not disappoint.
