A James Braid design, this nine hole course oozes quality, even if one does look at the land beyond the fifth hole, where there used to be a further nine, with a little regret for what might still have been. Fairways and greens are capital. A second set of tess gives a very different and imaginative complexion to each nine holes. The six par threes each pose a different question, with the eight hole being the hardest, well over two hundred yards with all sorts of trouble left and right. After the famous Drop Hole, which for many years was endowed to reward a hole in one in competition, the feared Dog Leg, which when it comes as the 16th can be a real card wrecker, with a particularly virulent copse of nastiness to carry for the second shot, asuming a good drive. A former Club Champion once scored 13 on this hole - in a Championship playoff! Well worth a visit.

Wonderful views of the sea, Excellent condition - especially in the summer. A real quiet old club feel. Best food around and very friendly clubhouse atmosphere. The costal wind means the course always plays differently. The famous drop hole is always great fun. Could do with another 9 holes but I am going to join anyway!
