Played here midweek December 06.
Pleasant tree lined parkland course but not one that really stirred the emotions.
The course is divided in two by a road & this does disturb the ambience a bit.
Although the holes are treelined & not unattractive by the start of the back 9 i was starting to find them a bit mundane .There was a slight lack of variety & you could sense there weren't going to be any surprises in store & that the next hole wasn't going to be much different to the one you'd just played.
However ,surprisingly from the 13th to the finish the holes became slightly different in character (more heavily tree lined & with more specimen trees)& more interesting & which made you think a bit more.
13 was a shorter more strategic par 4 with a smaller than normal green .14 a good dogleg with an unusual archway hedge behind the green .15 a lovely short quirky uphill par 3.The 18th green was almost right next to the clubhouse which i liked.
These holes made for an enjoyable finishing stretch.
The course doesn't seem to drain that well & i understand courses need to be protected in December but some tees were off the ladies & most of the flags were at the front of the green. Also three good par 3 's weren't off the normal teeing area so be warned .
The greens although a bit footprinty putted very true & the pace was just right.
The clubhouse had a nice feel to it & the main room was relaxed & exactly what you want.

I played the course as part of a society in the middle of may. I had heard so many good things about this course but was still taken aback by how well presented it was. All the faiways are tree lined with a great variety of trees and it is one of the few courses where smashing a driver off the tee is not always the best way to play the hole. The thing i found is, unlike a lot of courses where they have one great hole you will remember for a long time this course had 18 solid holes. There is not one hole that sticks in my mind. The par 4's are of a good variety, the par 5's are tough if your wayward off the tee. the par 3's tho are just great fun, nothing longer than 160 yards, all well guarded with bunkers and all just a joy to play. The one major pulling point of this course and the main reason i want to go back is the presentation of the course and for that all the credit must go to the greenkeepers they really have done a great job with this course and if i play a course in this condition anytime soon i will be amazed. From tee to green its stunning and as stupid as this may sound it does have a touch of augusta about it. If and its a big if i'm told, u get the chance to play this course, snap it up its such a beautiful course. weather its the best in oxon i can't comment as i've not played all the courses but it must be the best presented and that's what will stick your the mind for a long time

Probably the best course in oxfordshire. Never busy only fault is sometimes that they can be quite fussy about letting visitors play
