standing on the 1st tee I was thinking, OH NO, this is kendal all over again, but after the climb to first green things got a bit easier, the views are fantastic, and the course is a good test, the wind will play a big part in how well you score here, the 18th from an elevated tee is one of them holes you could stand hitting balls all day.Very welcoming in clubhouse an pro shop.

I've played Burnley a few times and the one thing that you have to hope and pray for is good weather!
Set on moorland above the town with some terrific views but little or no shelter, Burnley can be a real test of golf or, if I'm honest, it can be reduced to sheer farce if the weather intervenes.
There are a lot of blind holes which make it very difficult for first time visitors to score well. Once you know your way around though it offers a fair test to any handicapper.
I've always assumed the signature holes are 10 and 11 (from memory), an attractive dog leg par 4 which is driveable once you know where you're going, and a tricky par 3 where on the green you get above the flag at your peril!
The greens are generally ok, though they have had problems with drainage over the past year which led to some work being done on them which adversly affected them for a period, but I believe that has now been rectified.
The atmosphere and welcome at the Club is always freindly, and the catering side of things they have off to a tee.

One of the best courses i have played in a long time. The course is in excellent condition and some of the holes have the most spectacular views looking over Burnley and i will certainly be recommending this Golf Course to any Golfing friends of mine and i look forward to visiting again in the near future,

Lots of blind tee shots or approaches. In very good nick, friendly members and good value. Will certainly play again and should be a little easier now I know some of the lines.

I am a member at Burnley G.C.The course is a pennine moorland course , which when the wind blows - i.e. most of the time , can provide for a very tough round of golf.Club selection is very difficult and there are quite a few blind tee shots. On a clear day the course provides spectacular views across the Pennines and across to the Fylde coast.

I think that Burnley is the best golf course in the area with the exception of possibly Clitheroe. I played the course on several occasions and each time i have enjoyed myself immensly and i fully intend to go back in the foreseable futer. The greens are the best that i have had the pleasure of sampling and they run like a dream and the fairways are like velvet and as for the tees look like they have been through the lapping process they are that good
