The New Managers, who only took over on the 4 February 2008, are already improving course and club House to attract new members and look after old members.
I would recommend you all to play the course and use the Club House.

I last played Calderfields some three years ago and thought the course was not very well maintained but had potential. Having heard it was under new ownership and had improved I thought I would give it another try. What a difference, it was dry, well maintained, good greens, and the staff gave me a good welcome both prior and after my game. If you haven't played this course for some time I would recommend you try it again.

I thought that a 10 year members perspective might be of interest as the Club is now under New Management. The course is flat and very suited to all players especially those with medical complaints who cannot manage difficult terrains. The course had some drainage work carried out about three years ago and this has improved the playing conditions in the Winter enormously. The greens are good all year long, even in the Winter, but they really flourish from mid-May onwards and become as good as you will find at any private club. It is a very tight course and you will see this most pronounced when you play the 16th, a very hard par 5. If you are looking to get your handicap down, your game will have to be very good to do that here.
The New Managers, who only took over in Feb 2008, are already improving the bunkers with extra drainage and good quality new sand and have plans for a tarmac track around the whole of the course for buggies. The changing rooms are being given a face-lift prior to being rebuilt in a couple of years. The Clubhouse has improved with new seating and a new menu aimed at golfers. They are very keen to improve the course and club to attract new members and I for one wish them every success as they are like a breath of change and doing what they say! By the way its now called Calderfields Golf and Country Club.

I played a full 18 holes today after hearing that the course had improved. The condition of the course is improved since I last played at Calderfields. The last time there was a problem with inadequate levels of sand in the bunkers. This is no longer a problem. The bar also provides great refreshments at a good price and the bar/ restaurant area has been refurbished by the new owners. I observed that the changing rooms are also being refurbished. I would recommend anyone to try the course. 9 out of 10.

Absolutely shocking !!!
I played the course today, and I was so glad to finish, as it was by far the worst 18 hole golf course I have seen in my 20 years of playing golf.
The condition of the tees, fairways, greens and so called rough were diabolical.
The fact that I had to watch out for trespassing kids stealing golf balls, was not enjoyable either.
The course has huge potential, and would be a nice very easy parkland course, if somebody actually took some time and care. The greenkeepers are non existent, and honestly, I don't think they exist after the state of the course today. I have seen better grass on a Sunday league football pitch at the end of the season.
I did not find it challenging or enjoyable and will not be going back or recommending it to anyone.
All in all, I would have rather paid someone the £20.00 green fee to jab a very blunt spoon into my eye.

After playing Calderfields on Sunday 25th September i was really dissapointed on the course, the greens was ok the flags was in poor conditions and the fairways was the biggest joke i have ever seen in golfing history. People need to look at what they pay for this course £18 if you do drive go to Chesterton in Bridgenorth and pay £17 you will see the difference in quality by 200%, me and 7 colleagues played this course and we all thought this was a joke, if you think you can drive your ball down the middle and find it think twice it is full of 6 inch tunnels with gravel in tunneled all the way down even around the greens. Another major point is slow play and bunkers if thats what you call them.

The sign says don't change in the car park but the changing rooms are pretty poor. On Course the 1st hole is very challenging and you are glad to get over the water and complete the first. This course is just ok a few intresting holes with water the 16th being the best of them I suppose. Plenty to ruin a good card not enough reward for bold play greens not very receptive either. All in all just ok.

If your going to play this course you better take a map as none of the tees are numbered up and most of the cross over with each other out of order, so if you haven't played there before you won't have a clue which hole is next!!! On the plus side tho you never seam to get held up so it is a quick smooth round on a well looked after course.
Stuart Jarvis (England) 30/08/04
Calderfields is a super course. You're not going to better £12/13 for green fees on a course that is both testing for the amateur without offering the usual annoyances of a municipal - delays on-route, un-raked bunkers, blokes in villa shits, people being loud etc. This course deserves more respect.
Pete Walsh (England) 27/08/04
For £12 a round, Calderfields is an excellent little golf course, and continues to improve as the present owners are clearly making an effort. The Club House is a bit of a state, but don't be put off. Not a "destination" course for a special occasion, but perfectly adequate for a nice round of affordable golf.
Gary Beech (England) 09/06/04
forgot to mention no markings on the tees, only 8th and 11th were were numbered

played 08/06/2004,fair ways very tight every hole the same up and down grass on greens longest i have seen on any golf coarse not the best.
Brian Kemp (England) 25/05/04
I have played at Calderfields for the past 3 years, and I can now see a big difference on what it was early in 2003 let alone year 2000.
The course is now defined in many areas, and I have been told the bunkers are getting new sand which is the only part which it is lacking at the moment. I would recommend this course to anyone, and the green fees are only £13, which is great! If you don't believe me than have a go yourself.
Neil Bradford (England) 26/04/04
With so many of the holes being the same(up and down), this course is instantly forgettable. I will attempt to play at every other course in the midlands before visiting here again. The Direct Golf UK shop is the best thing here!
john silvestro (britain) 03/01/03
All the attributes a golf course should not have, flat, boring, up and down, narrow, uneven greens. A bog in winter, concrete in summer. Do not waste a good walk by visiting this excuse for a golf course
Chris Eden () 20/04/00
Please note,I made an error when describing the course, the hardest hole is the 16th not the 17th!
Apologies
Chris Eden () 10/11/99
A Friendly, welcoming club, with a flat but testing parkland layout. The course has several difficult tee shots and although there are a lack of fairway bunkers, many of the greens are undulating and well protected. The key to a good round relies on negotiating several key holes without error. The lake on the 1st hole provides a nerve wracking opening shot of the day. Both the 2nd and 3rd have OOB on the left hand side, and small well bunkered greens. The 7th is a long par five, especially into wind! The 8th needs a good drive across a small pond with a testing second shot across a sizable lake. The tee shot on the 10th plays back across the lake and a large bunker and mound guard the green. The 11th has OOB on the left and a tight small green. The par five 14th has a small plateau green which can wreck a good card! The 17th deserves it's hardest hole status.A narrow tree lined fairway has a pond on the right and OOB on the left, a stream in front of the green means three good shots are required to reach the two tier green.
All in all an enjoyable course and friendly club.
