Menzies Cambridge Hotel and Golf Club Player Reports

Just played the course as a part of a weekend package and can recommend it highly. Excellent opening and closing holes, with water a danger if off target. Apart from those holes, fairways are generally fairly wide. Course was in good condition and didn't seem too busy considering it was a Summer weekend. Hotel is also good and recently refurbished. Staff friendly and food excellent. Only down side was pricey drinks. My group thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Played this course a few times & although it is not the most difficult, on its day it can be a fair test. The Pro shop is always 1st class & extreamly friendly, as is the staff in the clubhouse. Course is always in good condition, although it can sometimes hold water. Although i have never eaten in the hotel i have never had any reason to complain about the rooms, staff & leisure facilities. Overall i would recomend for the weekend.

I visited UK with my friend on Friday 2nd..Sunday 4th April, just to play some golf after the half years break in Finland due to one feet of snow covering the the courses in winter time. The course was in excellent condition, fairways smooth and greens reasonable quick. Quite challenging course with its ditches and hazards, forgiving rather wide fairways for higher handicappers, though. The first hole with its ditch and water hazard on the right is a real test: if you are not confident with your drive, please play smart and consider to use iron instead! The Proshop and Club Bar service coulnīt have been friendlier! In all a really satisfying experience!

i played the cambridgeshire course a couple of years ago in a society and found the course very good.the greens were very quick and in good condition, the course prooved quite challenging but fair to all handicappers.the pro shop staff were very helpful and the hotel was good.i would recommend the course to anyone who is considering playing there.

Again, I strongly disagree with previous comment. I found the course very attractive, considering the land the designers had to work with. A reasonable test for higher handicappers as many holes appear tight from the tee, even if they open up afterwards. Big hitters find that the ditches and hazards are at a pericularly good length, making it a thinker rather than a hit and hope course. Whilst the hotel food was only average and the service was indeed slow, the rest of the setup was very good. Neele you were there for golf...not sumptuous food, if you had a long round perhaps you are yourself to blame. Our fourball took just under 4 hrs to play without any holdups. If it's food you want go to France!

Having read the previous course report I felt obliged to add my comments. My wife and I recently took a golf break at The Cambridgeshire and found all of the facilities first class. The Course, the hotel including the dinning room and all the associated services. The Pro shop could not have been more helpful. In all we had superb three day break

The course is nothing like what the official website describes itself as and thus high to medium handicappers shouldn't be put off by the intimidating description of the first hole or the 10-13. The course is pleasant and relatively forgiving but is v. slow going due to the weekend golf breaks and also because it's not restricted
I was surprised to find much of the course in relatively okish to good condition due to excessive watering. The proshop isn't what I call friendly and the hotel; WELL ...where do you want me to start !
The hotel is nicely furnished BUT the service is appalling. In the dinning rooms & the room service it gets even worse !
I would strongly recommend to everyone considering this as a destination that they don't organise a catered package at this hotel but rather find a restaurant in Cambridge or pop across the road to Tesco for a sarnie where the food and service will never be this bad.
I would perhaps play the course again one day when I've forgotten about the terrible time I had whilst in the hotel.
