Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club Player Reports
John Slater (England) 02/03/07
The first preview from Andrew Macintosh is spoof. James Buttrick is a junior golfer at Chapel. The course is quite flat apart from a small hill on the 2nd fairway and is a good test of golf ( Par 72). The Clubhouse is modern and serves good food. Enjoy your day at Chapel it is a gem in the Peak District.

What a pity 'Andrew' doesn't rate this course, maybe he's used to playing Woodhall Spa every week ! Don't be put off, for £17 for a day ticket (with 2-fore-1) this is a little gem set amongst some stunning Peak District scenery. Combining a new and old 9, these 18 holes offer an enjoyable days golf. There are a couple of weak holes, namely the 1st, but for £17 who's complaining! The newer front 9 offers interesting layouts, such as a 90 degree dogleg, a very tight par 5, and a couple of blind drives over some very imposing trees. The back nine is more established and maybe a little more straight foward but still highly enjoyable. Chapel is quite open, but misplaced shots rarely go unpunished. Beware of the greens, which look innocent enough, whose subtle breaks mean that a 3 putt is never far away ! With a warm welcome and reasonbly priced bar get yourself down to Chapel-en-le-Frith.

I have played this course often throughout the summer and it is the only course where i have come back disappointed.i truly am sorry for the members of this astonishingly poor course.
James butterick is the captain here and plans to revamp the course by adding three new holes these will be a great succes and will make the course more challenging for the more advanced playes out there.
