We played Cherwell Edge on Tuesday, the course was in excellent condition after some of the worst rain in the previous 24 hours. The front and back 9's couldn't be more different, the front flat and back very hilly - we were shattered after our round ( 3 ball took 3 1/2 hours ) only disappointment on the course was the greens, bit bobbley and woolly. The hospitality we received was excellent as was the fodder. Only down point was the mid-week green fees which at £25 was on the steep side

Played here midweek October 06 (£11 using a Green Free voucher).
Quite a pretty ,scenic & quiet treelined parkland course. The course is well presented & there are plenty of splashes of Autumn colour in the many trees that line all the fairways & really enhance the course visually.
You saunter along quite pleasantly on the gently undulating first 10 holes .However, the character of the course changes significantly when you cross over a road ( a sign would help )to play the last 8 .The scenic aspect still impresses but the terrain becomes very hilly.
On every hole on this side there is a hill to go up or down & after a while this becomes wearing. In an individual context these holes are fine but there's no restbite. The course also becomes much more positional.
There then follows one of the longest walks from an 18th green to a clubhouse that i've been on to top it all off & finish me off too.
Also out of the 5 par threes there was only one short yardage hole the other's all being at least 4 irons from the whites.( 4 short 1 long would be much more enjoyable ).
I would describe the course as pleasant but the hilly 'hard work' nature of the last 8 holes would prevent me from playing this course again.

I have been introduced to the Golf club by Ron Cavalier one of your elderly players - and I am really impressed - at present I am on the driving range and putting green - and cannot wait to actually play the greens - the kindness that i receive from people is wonderfull, especially in the clubhouse - that i do not worry about visiting the club on my own. SJ.
I have no handicap - but to allow me to process my comments,I have entered a figure. SJ.

Really enjoyed my afternoons golf here. Met up with a member who showed me around. Front 10 are a regular parkland style with some very strategic bunker placements. The back 8 are more interesting with streams and contours much more part of the play.
Very relaxed and friendly place - no stuffyness here and it is reflected in a booming membership. Helpful staff, good range and £23 for a round seemed very reasonable.
I'll be back

Played Cherwell Edge for the first time on New Year's Eve 2002. Despite the relentless rain in the days before, the course was open and eminently playable with no need for temporary greens or tees.
A fair challenge for low and high handicappers alike and set in some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK.
Comfortable and welcoming clubhouse with convivial hosts - well recommended.
