Have just played here (for the first time) in their Seniors open, off the back tees. What a superb course, what views, what wonderful condition. I understand the head green keeper plays off 5 or 6 and it shows in the general condition and attention to detail.
On the downside there are some long walks from green to tee, there are a few holes that play across another fairway, there are some not insignificant climbs, and there is a slight lack of signage indicating where the next tee is.
Ignoring those points, this is a true test of golf, only a shot down the middle of the tree lined fairways will allow a second shot to the green, which are superb, gentle subtle slopes which offer a variety of pin placement and concentration is required to sink any putt. It is only afterwards you realise how few bunkers there are, so often a large number of bunkers is the only way to toughen a mediocre designed course, this course doesn’t need them it is tough enough.
This is a must play course in this area, the views alone from the delightful clubhouse are worth the cost of a pint or two.

Lovely course, great views from the chiltern hills, mind you it is easy to have great views from this kind of elevation. This can only be described as a forest course on a very big hill. I would say this is only a course for the stout hearted but the members we met all seemed over seventy and whizzed around us. The course is a really challenging layout and the only obstacle not present was water. This plays a lot longer than the card as you have to take the hills into account, but there is plenty of rewards for taking it on, like the very drivable 6th.
The course is well maintained and playing here at this time of year I was suprised to see little GUR anywhere. This is apart from the areas where the club has made significant groundworks over the winter (new tee boxes, new paths and stages for winter tee mats - proper astro areas not the stupid rubber pads). This can only enhance the great setup and did not prove an inconvienience.
Only drawbacks are the proshop not being open early enough even though we phoned to confirm earliest available tee time and what time they would be open to accept payment. This led to our second problem - even though we were the first at the course we had to wait to tee off as the members signed a book and dashed out to the first tee as we were paying. This resulted in twenty plus people being around the first tee at the same time. We definately felt rushed as there was permanently someone playing right behind you, even though you could not play any quicker. Perhaps this may be addressed in the future as visitors to the area really should make an effort to get out on this course.

A really challenging course both physically and mentally, full of memorable holes even at this time of year(Nov).
Excellent clubhouse and reasonable green fees but a very slow pace of play. Two and four balls are given different tee offs from 1st and 10th except on a Tuesday morning when senior fourballs are everywhere.

This is a very scenic course set in a heavily wooded area of the Chiltern hills near Wendover. The majority of holes are tree lined and picturesque with a predominance of elevated tees and greens which are both in very good condition. Very few bunkers (I counted 10 on the whole course) but BEWARE, this is a VERY hilly course with some tough walking both between holes and on some of the holes themselves. One particular par 3 has the tee set what looks to be about 100 feet below the green. Although the total course yardage may seem short you will know you have played 18 holes by the time you reach the 19th. Nice clubhouse, friendly pro-shop. Midweek £18 per round, £23 for the day. Well worth a visit if your legs feel strong.
