Chingford Golf Club Player Reports

Played this course mid week and it was terrible.
The greens were extremely fast which is not a problem on its own but add to that the fact that the farways were like concrete and the greens were so hard you could not chip from outside of ten yards and hope to stay on them. allthough the weather has been ok it has not been drowt weather to cause this. Added to this there was no course guide to buy and a lack of clear markings.
At one point i was in the rough and had to chip onto the fairway about 15 yads away. The chip landed in the light rough went onto the fairway and rolled to the other side.
The whole experience was very unenjoyable.
If the fairways were a little longer than the greens and had a bit of green on them and the greens had a bit of give this would be a nice course, but in its curren state i wuld recomend spending the £16 else where.

Green fees have increased slightly to £16 Mon-Fri (£8 for over 60's) Condition of course very good, greens are by far the best for miles. Off course facilities have been upgraded.Lot of effort has been made by Andy (Pro) to improve all aspects of the course. Some of the holes will tax golfers of all standards. Putting on the 3rd,will be remembered by many! Weekends can be busy, but weekdays are a joy. Normally you can book a tee-time of your choice up to 7 days in advance.

Played Chingford this Sunday gone and was very impressed with it's condition. Greens were magnificent; fast and true, Tee's and fairways as they should be, well watered and green.
THe course has plenty of dog legs but isn't particularly long, It has a lovely, peaceful woodland feel to it, represents good value for money and is recommended as a friendly club and being able to get a decent tee off time. Just be aware that being open to the public you do get a few 'poor quality' players, we played through 3 particularly poor groups but still managed a 4 hr round! Don't forget your red top. It is a public right of way and the red top distinguishs you from the walkers!
Enjoy!

We play this course every couple of weeks. Its overall condition is good, and the greens are very good. Mon to Wed, all those over 60 pay 7 pounds after 9.30am. Well worth a visit

A pretty woodland course on public parkland - you have to wear a red top to identify you from other park users. The greens are generally decent but the fairways - especially in summer time - can be extremely poor and virtually hardpan. Many fairways slope off and consequently many a fine drive ends up in some serious rough - extremely annoying. Most par 4's are blind and this is a little repetitive. All the par 3's and 5's are good holes. A straight hitters course for mid handicappers. Not challenging enough for low handicappers and infuriating for beginners who may loose a lot of balls!

I was not particularly impressed.
At first glance attractively set amongst trees but I regard the greens as really quite poor.
I have played some twilight rounds here at a deep discount price because at that price it is worth it. The twilight round fee has just been increased and having driven away without playing because of the increase can honestly say that in my opinion the course is not worth its green fee.
