Visited at the end of August when you would expect the conditions to be good. I was not disappointed; warm welcome and good food. The course was extremely well tended and they have made the best use possible of the water, without it being too intrusive. Most of the greens seemed to be "upturned saucers", very firm and did not take a ball played in from more than 8 iron distance, so we found ourselves playing a lot of short chips back onto the greens, not good for low scoring.
Well worth playing, a most enjoyable day out.

In recent weeks I have had the pleasure of playing some really good golf courses, I can add Chipping Sodbury GC to that list. I did have a really bad start, the first four holes I played relly badly. This had nothing to do with the course, the holes were good holes.
I really enjoyed the round, some very good use of water, and some really great holes. Not sure of the Out of Bounds on the 14th, there seems little point in it.
The greens were a dream to putt on, never had such a great time putting. I putted really well because the greens gave me confidence.
There are a number of holes where you drive with an iron to leave the ball short of water and a short iron second shot to the green. Great doglegs and interesting par fives make this a must play course. I cannot wait to go back. At £22 it is not cheap, but I would say its worth trying.
