In good condition considering the dry April and wet May we had, which isn't a bad achievement as this is a parkland course close to the river which looks as if it would flood easily.
First impressions not good, as smoking still allowed in the clubhouse as late as the end of May 2007 - I thought most clubs had banned it well before the July 1st deadline. The feel of the clubhouse is of an old fashioned club, but there is a friendly Northern welcome, even to a Londoner like me! I liked the patio and decking area outside, where on a peasant summers day you can spend many an hour watching people play the 18th.
As a test of golf the course is not that tricky. It is a pleasant course with hazards, but stay straight and avoid trouble and you'll be OK - on a good day you can score well.
I would happily return to the club (albeit when smoke-free) and would be guaranteed a good welcome and nice game of golf in good surroundings. It isn't Augusta but it doesn't pretend to be. It's just a nice club with a course ideal for relaxing golf.

Played the course with my son Sean on 17.8.2006. Mature parkland course in the middle of Manchester, 6000 yards off the whites with 4 par 4's of less than 300 yards - so not too demanding in terms of length, but there are plenty of bunkers! The course was in good condition with good greeens and plenty of interest - well worth the £27 we paid each for 1 round. Very good bar prices (2 pints for £3.20!) and good fresh cod and chips lunch (£5.50) on the decking overlooking the 18th green. For a fun day out on a very decent golf course - you won't go far wrong here. Recommended

£32 was a lot to ask for considering the state of the course - lots divots not replaced, pitch marks unrepaired and the tees were not of high quality. The pro was friendly and the clubhouse was very pleasant. The course is not a tough one. Not many holes that stood out of note. Will not be rushing back - wait till 4.30 on a Sunday and you can play for £16.

played this course yesterday - what fantastic condition it is in, from the velvet fairways to immaculate greens which are of excellent pace.

Played the course with my Society on 6th June. Found the course not too challenging but really enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I thought the meal was really delicious. Would definitely play this course again. They also served a nice pint of Wiersteiner in the bar!

We are extremely sorry about the unfortunate incident mentioned below. The golfer was actually hit, not by a golf-ball from one of our members, but by a member of another visiting Society. This Society caused several problems on that particular day and has since been barred from the Club.
