Cirencester Golf Club Player Reports

This is a real gem of a course to play. Don't be fooled by the hilly appearance from the road, there are only two climbs from tee to green.

Not a long course by any means but the short irons had better be spot on because the targets are very small. Greens are good for the time of year (Jan) even now if you get the wrong side of the hole you will be left with a knee trembler on the way back.

Two disapointing holes which seem to be add ons, the short 11th is very bland and the par 4 16th is reachable with a 3 wood or less when it firms up a little.

Despite a lot of rain in the area the course was dry and firm under foot with no mud paths between holes.

This course is tucked away even though it runs alongside a dual carriageway, but it is well worth seeking out, a course of real interest.

For anyone who doesn't enjoy a 7000yd bash it and see course then I would fully recommend this venue.

I must take this opportunity to reply to A Peto's outrageous allegations. Not only is it a good course but it was a stern test of golf - possibly more due to the fact that, in searching for Peto's golf balls, we walked twice as far as one normally would than anything else. We will see this weekend whether Peto can shoot another 68 on the front nine as we are coming back for another visit. It is hard for someone to write realistically about a golf course when he is barely able to hit his driver as far as the ladies tee.

A dissapointingly easy course with little rough and usually no more than a very lofted 2nd to the green, was diappointed with my 68 but more by the lack of competion B. Jevons and A. Gimpbar put up- it was all over by the 12th...
