The course was in perfect condition when we played on the 22/06/08, greens ran fast and true and fairways where dry even after lots of heavy rain the day before. Service in club house was painfully slow though although well priced. I didnt like the drive way to the club house as it took you right through the golf course in danger of flying golf balls.
Over all a good course with many good holes but very hilly.

i played this course with our society on a fine spring day and the course played great.greens were very good, not to fast.and fairways were very good but the light rough had been recently cut and the grass cuttings were left there on the top and was a nightmare to find any ball in the light rough.but i scored my 1st ever eagle so iam not to bothered plus went round in 85.and my handicap has been cut 2 shots due to the way i played today.so i hope to play here again soon.very enjoyable course to play.and facilities were very good to.

The combination of courses played is the key to the difficulty factor on this course. The blue course has two horror holes. The 2nd winds along a tree lined valley, with a stream to trap the unwary. Then there's the notorious "cardiac hill" which is the 7th. There's a constant danger of a well hit drive rolling back down the hill to end up at your feet, or hacking through the rough - which stops the ball rolling back, but is a pig to get out of. Even big hitters rarely reach the summit of the hill in one go.
Our society plays here every year and feel it challenges the high handicappers more than the lower ones (the shortness of some holes), but it is fun, and excellent exercise!

Played on a lovely afternoon, March 2007. 3 loops of 9 set in beautiful Northants countryside. The course is very hilly, and very quirky. Lots of short par 4's, but then they are all up hill! This is not a course to seriously test your technique, its a course for friends to have a good time on a Sunday afternoon. Using an Open fairways card, it cost £7.50 each on a Sunday! However it took an eternity to get round, and 5-1/2 hours is slow by anyones standards. Value for money is the name of the game here, and I can think of plenty of far worse courses who charge much more. I would happily play this course again based on price rather than quality.

Played Cold Ashby for the first time on Saturday 24th February, amidst some heavy rain and overall very wet conditions.
Whilst some parts of the course were extremely wet under foot the course still played surprisingly well.
Some of the views from the tees are quite amazing and some wonderful holes, which I can imagine during the summer are quite superb. Not the longest course, with some par 4's no doubt driveable when the ground is a bit harder.
Clubhouse was great with very friendly staff and nice locals.
Price was good too at only £15 on a weekend. Throughly enjoyed the day and will definately be playing again here in the summer.
Mind you,you really need a buggy as some of the climbs are extremely tiring !!

Definitely a course worth playing with some brilliantly varied holes and some real challenges. Played here the other week when the ground was completely frozen (the greens were like concrete!) but the course was still welcoming and the putts were very true. You need to be long off some of the tees to have any hope of par. Particularly enjoyed the par 3 where the tee must be some 60 yards above the green in elevation. Great hole.
With three loops of 9 and a little out of the way, you shouldn't have any problem getting a tee time and the price is very reasonable for such a good course. Great food as well.
Word of warning though - unless you have the stamina of an Olympic athlete, you might struggle. There are some SERIOUS climbs here and the old calf muscles get a great work-out. Better than any stairmaster....
