Collingtree Park Golf Course Player Reports
Nigel Weekes (England) 01/10/07
Our 20 strong Society played here on Sunday 30th September. First impressions were good as we stood on the balcony overlooking the island 18th green watching players attempt the shot over the lake.It seemed at least one in every four failed in the period we were watching. We had arrived early and so made good use of the driving range right behind the pro's shop.
Our game started right on time and we soon spread out achieving a four hour round without asny problem. The first three holes are an easy introduction to the round and settle you for what becomes much more complicated from the 4th onwards. Lots of water and a course planner is essential if you are to make a good score. As the holes progress, it becomes a real thinking man's golf course and careful shot planning is very important. Straight and accurate tee shots are essential. The closing holes get more and more difficult culminating in the 18th which your correspondent was delighted to get on in regulation and get a par 5. You would have to be a very long and accurate ball striker to take the green on in two shots.
We will certainly return.

Feb 2006. Played on a very cold day, but Winter rate of £25 very agreeable. Excellent welcome, and superbly designed course despite being set next to a busy dual carriageway and in the middle of a housing estate. Course is a great design making use of lakes and the river. Greens are superb, with great variety. If you try too hard, the course can punish you. Use your head and you will have no problems. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to playing here again. Just hope that the owners can maintain the quality of the course without pushing the green fees too high. Its a good course at present prices, but I wouldnt say it was worth any more.

I have held 2 society days a year on Collingtree since 1991 for around 20-30 people. The course and especially the staff are fantastic and make you most welcome.
We have had many levels of golfers play, i chap getting through over 40 balls in a single round !!! I think there is more water at Collingtree then there is in the North Sea. In 2000 I emulated Sam Torrances closing hole feat of smashing a driver then a 3-wood to 12 ft and sinking the putt for a gross round 75, follwed the next day with a 77.
The course always plays to a very high standard even if it does RAIN all the time !!!.

Very good course.Yes,the 18th. has to be seen to be believed.Generally, the greens are excellent, and are very well protected. They're mostly very undulating, some with narrow necks. It's certainly very hard to hold the greens.Recommended.

1st Time I played the course I thought it was great,Very testing on the high handicap player like myself.Enjoyed it very much. 18th hole was the best last I have ever played and boy was i glad to get under double figures.
Excellent value.

The course itself could hardly be bettered - just about having that feeling that you're playing in the middle of a modern up-market housing estate. Forget about those adverse comments about the greens a couple of years ago - they're now superb. Many fascinating holes - lots of them with water in play. I havn't yet completed the 18th in less than double figures!

Played the course 3 days in a row.Great course in the wind, greens were excellant. The long 9th I hit in two with two very well stuck 3 woods.\r\nThe 18th is a joy to play, with it's island green.\r\nI remember Darren Clark hitting it in two using a driver and a 6iron during the British Masters. The days I played it I had to hit two 3 woods and a 7 iron . \r\nIt's a must play course.

Fantastic course. Geoff Pook, professional, comes highly recommended for all levels of tution. He took me from a new starter to sub100 rounds after only 5 lessons. The tution facilites are fantastic.
