Crookhill Park (Municipal) Golf Club Player Reports

sorry,
when i said "top 10 golf courses" i did not make it clear that it was regarding MUNUCIPAL (pay+play) courses.
As for the issue with the drainage this is been looked into next summer and will hopefully be resolved for Winter 07/08.
With regards to the clubhouse it is ran independantly by the Golf Club and not DMBC. A private company run the catering and run the bar. 200% better from when the council ran it.

Crookhill is definitely right up there with Grange as the best Municipal course in the area.
Undulating parkland layout making the best use of the surrounding mature trees. The tees do tend to get a lot of hammer and often I have found the bunkers short of sand but for the money it is a bargain.
Not sure which list of the UK's top 10 courses this is on though but worth playing nonetheless.

Played the course today ( 29th October ) with 30 society members. Unfortunately the course was suffering from recent bad weather resulting in lots of plugging. The fairways had not been in a state to cut hence little to distinguish between semi-rough and fairways. Having said all that the course is a good challenge, requiring consistent positioning off the tees, due to doglegs and hazards. All greens were in play which is a credit to the groundstaff considering recent weather. Would welcome the opportunity to play the course in the summer months as I am sure it would be a real pleasure. Off course the clubhouse is well presented and the staff very friendly. Would recommend the course but note the weather pre playing due to drainage.

As junior captain at Crookhill Park, i have a lot to say about the golf course. Why am i am member of Crookhill to start with? the answer is because it is rated in the top 10 golf courses in Britain. Why didn't i join a private club? because they are not in as good condition as Crookhill Park and the services aren't as good. The course is an excellent parkland golf course par 70 with 2 par 5's and 4 par 3's. The 11th hole is just in a different world. what a superb stroke index one with 5 ditches a pond and a wall infront of the elevated green. The tree on the 1st hole catches all golfers out. The 8th is a long par 3 with out of bounds all up the right hand side.
Even the bar now is in good condition serving food and drink throughout the day. It is a pleasure to go into the 19th after your round.

first things first.."Hello MUM !"now onto the course.
Crookhill is what i would say all golf courses should look like ,very woody and very tight and not forgetting very stunning in looks. The greens are well manicured and watered, the fairways are very well kept, and recently the course has had some new drainaged put in , and i play the course regular and i didnt even know they had put any in!! Prooving how well the course in well maintained and its a municiple course aswell!! Well worth £12.00 money well spent
