Set in real Footballer Wives Country in the middle of Cheshire, this is a couse which will really test your game. Delamere Forest isn't actually a forest as such, the course is a heathland course with the heather and gorse that you might expect at Sunningdale, combined with the dunes, humps and undulations of a links course. In fact, when the wind got up in the afternoon, it was like playing a seaside links!
Very pleasant club with a clubhouse overlooking the course and a nice terrace. They are doing a few renovations at the moment and building a new pro-shop (which should be completed at time of writing). The staff were all very friendly there is a lot of history. Generally very nice and classy in an understated sort of way.

We played this course as a group of 20 on 29th September and were most impressed with both the course and the Club personnel we met. There is a good practice ground by the 10th tee with balls provided - very handy as we started there. The course is links style with many undulations and a number of blind shots. The rough is very unforgiving if you stray not too far off line. It was in excellent condition as were the greens and we had a very enjoyable afternoon. The clubhouse has magnificent views of three holes and is very comfortable.
We enjoyed the experience very much and would strongly recommend it.

Our society played the course as the first in a 3 course tour and all 22 players agreed it is one of the best we have played in the 10 years we have been in existence. Very similar to the Coxmoor championship course in Nottinghamshire. Every hole has something of interest and the greens are excellent to putt on but not easy. What we cannot vouch for is how wet it will be in the winter months but the first w/end in Oct. excellent.
Off course you will find the staff as helpful as you could ever wish for.

A jewell in the heart of the forest.
Magnificent course, especially when the rhododendrons are out, which form a wonderfully scenic back-drop to many of the holes.
Course is not long, a couple of the par 5's are easily obtainable in 2, however it is tight and consequently accuracy is at a premium. Stray into the rough and you are well advised to take your medicine.
Greens were in fantastic condition, very receptive, very true and very slippery from the wrong side of the hole.
Great facilities, wish I was a member!

This has to be one of the finest courses in the country... October everywhere else shut... you would not know it had rained, drainage that good..
Brilliant Greens.. still lighting in Oct..
Outward nine.. long and exacting... backward nine,
shorter and exhilarating... Many blind shots..
reminded me of an Heathland HILLSIDE... cannot pay
it a better compliment... Facilities being updated
.. beer and food cheap...Winter Golf.. there cannot be anything better... can't wait to try the
Greens in Summer...

A superb course for winter golf - it never closes - it is delightfully quiet in the summer months. The outward nine are long, open, heathland holes, with impressive views over the surrounding forest. The back nine have a different feel, being shorter holes, skirting the edge of the woods. The sandy soil of the area drains well, making the greens very fast in the summer. The facilities at the clubhouse are rather old fashioned, but after a good round of golf it is very pleasant to sit outside the spike bar with a cold drink and look out over the course spread before you.
