Played this course yesterday on a Winter deal,it is stunning, very playable for all standards of golfer and an ideal society venue. The scenery and wildlife merge to form a magnificent backdrop and the new clubhouse is one of the best thought out and cleanest I have ever seen,Summers must be a real treat from the balcony.

The food served by friendly welcoming staff was way above normal golf club fare and a special mention must go to the Secretary for making us feel part of the place. It has an exclusive old money feel but has with modern improvements managed to balance that with a contemporary touch, whoever did the planning got it spot on.

One small reservation,is it really the time and age to have to wear jackets for lunch?

Paul

Played here in June 2004 as part of a society day. An excellent day throughout. Club house looks like a modern ocean liner and is the third in about 90 years - there's a lot of money here!

Course is superb, with a slight feel of Wentworth in one or two hole, particularly the 13th. Bunkers were full of flint and very shallow, resulting in a deep gash in my wedge. Otherwise greens and fairways were superb. 17th over water and 18th back to the club house both pass along side the spectacular Management College where the rhodedendrons were in full bloom.

Club house has good facilities with excellent locker room. Food was top notch, but agree with sentiment on existing members - I can't blame them for wanting it their way - the memebership fees must be a small fortune.

Practice facilities were a bit poor. Driving range is an open air affair.

I disagree with the previous two comments. I found this course to be very testing with my head permenently buried in my course planner! Very tight with many blind shots. Greens were A1 and the clubhouse was stunning. A great test of golf, my only moan is the members were a little stuffy. Apart from that I found it an ideal venue for the Open qualifying.

Excellent location, the course is set in the middle of a National Trust forest, we played on a bright summer's day with deer wandering around the course. The course was not too challenging but anything off line soon found the trees. Some reachable par 5's and a few par 4's around 400 yards. The course was in good condition with greens rolling true.

Very beautiful course with some very nice holes, the par 3's were very nice to play. Some of the par 5's were not that long, but the greens were very fast and true. The course was in great condition and the staff were all happy to help. Not a hard course though. Good course layout as well.
