just played the drift today with 2 work colleagues and have to say it was great, the course was in superb condition and the staff were very helpful and friendly ,had lunch after and it was great, the course is a good test for all standards with a lot of shorter dogleg par 4's that require an acurate long iron/wood to keep you in the fairway which on this course is paramount,a great day

I played this course jannuary 2003 and was a member for two years previously. there were initially problems with drainage when i was a member due to the rain and floods but when the drainage was completely in the winter it was excellent and in the summer the ball runs amazingly well. i love the trees making for increased accuracy of shots and as a member it really improved me as a player. although the management and professionals are always inefficient they can be nice when you get to know them. great clubhouse even better food.

This course came with some good reviews and the label ‘hidden gem’ and in hindsight I can see how they were justified – at least in part.
If you like your golf with tree-lined fairways then you’ll be in heaven at this place. Virtually every hole is completely closeted by trees on both sides.
Needless to say, the flip side of this is the requirement for accuracy! Particularly off the tee.
More of a concern to me, however, was the fact that at least half a dozen of the holes (especially on the front nine) seemed to be complete clones of each other: tree lined, dead flat and with a solitary bunker in front of the green. It was almost uncanny. Honestly, I’m sure if you teleported even one of the members to the middle of one of these holes they would probably have trouble identifying it!
Enough said on that. The holes that stand out are the picturesque Par 3 third, the long and tight Par 5 tenth and the teasingly semi-blind but inviting Par 4 twelfth. The seventeenth is a more challenging Par 4 and probably the best other Par 4 on the course.
Despite paying only £15 for a twilight round, I must admit I was slightly disappointed – with a bit more variety this has the potential to be really good. Instead it’ll have to settle for a:
6.5/10

I visited this course for about the fourth time this summer. The course itself remains excellent. In my personal opinion, however, the club is spoiled by completely over-officious marshalling, unfriendly catering staff and an apparently uninterested management. I have noticed a gradual decline since cgange of ownership. Very sad.

I played this course last year in August & our Society is returning on 31/5/00. It is a very well presented course with tree lined fairways (there are occasional gaps!) & excellent greens. It's one of those courses that has just about every type of hole from
short par-3 to long par 5. You do need to be straight off the tees & some of the par-4's also require a placed tee shot not a long one, to be in a1 position. You get the feeling as you go round that you dont quite know where you are on the course due to each hole being seperated by trees (a feature I enjoyed). All in all a splendid course that is kept in tip top condition & the food is also excellent. well worth a visit.
