i have to say, when i entered the junior open of this club, i was expecting the place to be a shambles as it was only a nine hole course. how i was wrong. the place is a gem. some holes are breathtaking. some holes are admittedly bland but the 2 or three breathtaking holes more than make up for it. i failed to win the open that day but alas i did not walk away empty handed, i managed to win the long drive contest with a screamer of 325 yards. i recomend this gem of a course to any golfer in the area, give it a go, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I’m a member at Evesham Golf Club so could be accused of a certain amount of bias I suppose, however I have no hesitation in recommending the course to any potential visitor. I’ve been a member for just three years and must admit to originally being reticent about the 9 hole 18 tees arrangement, but please don’t let this put you off as it works really well. It’s not just a case of going around the same course twice either as the tees are all different on the back nine to the front. The 3rd for example is a straight but tight 385-yard par four but becomes a very tricky 431-yard dogleg par 4 as the 12th. The 6th is a 139 yard par 3 but becomes a 269 yard par 4 as the 15th, which despite being stoke index 18 has the most difficult green on the course to read and is guarded by two large trees on entry.
The course is a real test of golf for all abilities with hazards including, the River Avon, a brook, numerous bunkers and many tree-lined fairways. The greens are always in superb condition throughout the whole year and the views of the surrounding countryside along the river and from the elevated 8th and 17th tees are superb. The clubhouse has recently been refurbished and the catering is excellent.
In summary, if you fancy a day’s golf on a testing course that’s in excellent condition and a great meal to finish, then give Evesham a try and you won’t be disappointed.
