Farnham Park Golf Club Player Reports
Martin Madsen (England) 14/05/07
Not a tough course but to be fair to the club they have cut their cloth accordingly and basically run a good pay and play club which appeals to it's target audience, i.e. younger people, beginners and occasional/seasonal players.
Nice changing rooms, a pleasant environment & relaxed atmosphere prevail. If what you are looking for is something not too taxing then this is ideal.
Back 9 a little dull (10th is a long par 3 but then all par 4's until the end) and the greens can be slow and the fairways parched. Not one for the 'Must Play' list but a nice relaxing day and excellent value for money at £15 a round, down here in the South-East, that's daylight robbery!

Played here on Dec 29th ('coldest day of the year') and found the course in generally good condition.
An 8-30 tee-off meant that there was still plenty of frost on the fairway necessitating using day-glow balls ! Also, the greens were covered in snow/frost/ice and therefore were like concrete. Trying to hit and stay on the short stuff was impossible ! Putting was a lottery and we had to resort to a curling-style team-effort to brush a path to the hole !! ;-)
At £14, a thoroughly enjoyable mornings golf at this much under-rated course.

Played this course on 21/03/05. It's a very well kept course, the greens and fairways were in good condition and no complaints there. The winter mats were a let-down - very hard and an effort to tee up as desired. A nice gentle course this, with an interesting mix on the front 9. However, the back 9 is a bit of a slog, with the last 8 holes all being par 4's with little variety. That said, worth playing every now and then and at £13-50, it's good value.
David Watson (England) 28/10/02
I played this course on 26th oct '02. My lasting memory of the course is of the super quality of their greens. After
a lot of rain during the previous fortnight, i was preparing for a bit of a bog - but there was none of it! Fairways were of good quality and the greens were slick
and true. I was also impressed by the sense of space at
this course. Although a few holes run parallel to each other it wasn't like a firing range and there is generous room between them often with large and mature trees.
The only downside was that the dreaded winter mats are now in play but if they don't put you off i recommend you try this little gem!
One tip: look carefully at the reverse of the score card
for the course planner before you take each tee shot, as there are various ditches running across fairways and other water hazards that come into play. Course management is rewarded. Fantastic value at £16.00 for a saturday.

Would I be being selfish if I told you not to play here!? In truth this course is well kept, well organised and has some very nice holes (the 7th being my particular favourite) among the 18. Check ahead when it is raining as they sometimes close holes to protect the course, though you usually pay less as a result. Even at full price it would be a bargain anyway.
Ramesh Mistry (UK) 29/06/01
Very good value (£15.00 on a w/e 23/6/01).
Nice clubhouse and Friendly Staff.
Very Well kept Public Course. Weekend was busy but play wasn't delayed. They've cut the rough small enough so you didn't take time looking for stray shots and hence slowing the paly.
Loved the short par 3 holes.
Most of the Fairways were wide and immaculate for a Public course. Well done to the Staff at Farnham Park.
