Played on 23 July. A rare true seaside links course, this was the most fun course we played during a week long stay in the Southport area, and reasonably priced. It plays long enough and is a good challenge on a breezy day. 3 greens had problems, but generally neat and tidy and a very fair test.
Like most courses, it could probably do with one or two longer par 3 holes rather than the obligatory 140 yarders, but some excellent long par 4s and proper par 5s make up for this.
The high seawall prevents any real views unfortunately.

We visited Fleetwood on 21st July 2006.
Any lover of natural links golf should take the time to visit Fleetwood. The course is relatively flat and easy walking and although not overly long is ably defended by some tricky rough and the prevailing wind which blew in about 4 different directions during the day.
Don’t be fooled by the views from the clubhouse window……the first hole looks like a pitch and putt hole but walk down the stairs and onto the tee and the fairway disappears and is replaced by out of bounds markers.
The course was in great condition with a great variety of holes with fast running fairways and smooth true greens which was a joy to play on.
We received a friendly welcome from the staff and members alike and special thanks to the Secretary and Captain Tony Kane for the smooth running of our day.
Full marks to everyone at Fleetwood. Try and visit if you can.

Situated on the sea front at Fleetwood, the links course is open to the elements and a fair test of golf for everyone. Not overly long, the course is gently undulating with the clubhouse always in sight. In good condition summer and winter, might just be the best true links on the Fylde coast.Friendly clubhouse with good catering and bar.
