playing again at Gillingham after 15 years, I was impressed by the improvement to the course, the course now is much more deceptive and careful choice of club is necessary otherwise shots are lost getting out of the rough. A real test to golfing skills if its a windy day, an enjoyable round topped off with an hole in one, albeit on a temporary green. The food in the restaurant was good and value for money.

As a member of Gillingham Golf Club for the last four years,i would like to inform newcomers, that the course is not as easy as some people make it out to be.The fairways are not very wide,so you need to be hitting them every time or be prepared to take your medicine, because the fairtrees, large or small are not very forgiving. The greens are amongst the best in the county.A warm wellcome will always be on offer to you, from the time you enter the Pro-Shop to the friendly bar staff,(located in the new modern clubhouse) for that well deserved cool drink after playing a superb and challening and well maintain golf course.

Having been a member at this course from the age of 10 until I left the area, thought I'd say the course has changed so much over the previous ten years, if you haven't been here since the club-house was redeveloped, go back. Always played more like a Parkland Links course (due to not particularly receptive greens at the height of summer), and the legendary Par 5 17th has gone meaning a gentler finish.
Must mention that in relation to the dress code, I once got turfed off the course for not wearing knee length socks! Don't believe a word of it...etiquette is very important to some of the more senior members! A good place to play when still a novice.

I have played this course many times. I just love the surrounding area its not as snobbish and elitist as the other courses I have played at. Theres no dress code either so I can even wear my Liverpool shirt as I play. The club house sells cheap hotdogs as well but id prefer a cup of scouse. Anyway the holes are quite small so they reward a more accurate player. And the greens are some of the best ive seen in a non bourgoeis club. It must be all the sun they get down south. I would recomend anyone to go as it is a great experience.

As a member of several years, I feel I should quash the myth that Gillingham is a 'Mickey Mouse' course. Yes, it is short. Through no fault of the club I hasten to add. But you have to be accurate, as the fairways are quite narrow and the conifer trees very unforgiving. We had some serious disease problems on the greens earlier this year, which took some time to cure. Thankfully, due to the diligence of the greenkeeping staff and the patience of most of the members, we seem to be back on track. Gillingham was renowned to have maybe the finest greens in the area. This will soon be the case again I am sure. So come on, don't pass us by. We may not be the most scenic or demanding course, but we represent good value for money and we have a fantastic new clubhouse.

Greens are extremely disappointing. What is the problem?
