I played this course for the first time last week and am itching to get back there again. Notwithstanding they were in the middle of some maintenance to the greens (hollow tining, sanding and seeding) the course was in immaculate shape, no doubt helped by some recent rain to get the fairways green and the rough back up. It is a really picturesque course, winding along the bottom of the Downs, before you climb a long way up to the 7th. The view from the tee here really is one of the best views in golf. Even though it was overcast, you could see the Isle of Wight one way and almost to Brighton the other. The challenge is in the elevation changes and the wind. It really is very hilly (almost the only course where I wanted to take a buggy!) and it helps to be able to flight your ball, to keep it under or to ride the wind. The quality of the turf is excellent - links like, quite tight but springy. The bunkering is excellent too - very strategic and on a number of holes quite tight. I am biassed, as I have just joined as a member but I think it really deserves the plaudits it has been getting recently.

I have just played this course for the fourth or fifth time - the previous times being in Jan/Feb this year. The improvement in the standard of the course is unbelieveable and the newly opened clubhouse and changing facilities are superb.

Having been invited to a member and guest day, I really can't comment on the cost but I would recommend the course to anybody. Playing off the yellow tees allows even a high handicapper to really enjoy the round and make some decent scores as the fairways are cut wide enough that you really shouldn't miss them and the greens are fast and true - the only exception being the third hole where the green still needs a bit of work. When all this is set in some of the finest downland scenery in the country, it really is hard to beat - just make sure you play on a nice day as the wind can make a huge difference on such an exposed course.

What a fine course, I was a vistor from Michigan in the U.S. and had a wonderful time. A nice challenging layout without being overbearing. Greens were in good shape and the pace of play was wonderful. The assistant pro was helpful and the scenery made it a pleasure. Play smart and you can shoot a good number.
