Just played grange park golf course in Rotherham. I must say this is a very good golf course and a good challage for all handicaps.
I would like to tell you about a few key holes on the course.
Hole 1 1 of the best staring hole iv'e ever played it plays just over 420 yards from the yellow tees blind tee shot with out of bounds all the way up the right you need to hit a long tee shot to even get a shot in to the green then you have the problem weather to go for the green or lay up becase of the ditch running 20 yards short of the green best hole on the course. Hole 8 a long par 4 hole playing down hill with out of bounds both sides you need to hit a long tee shot then you have the problem with the second shot still out of bounds both sides with trees coming in to play about 60 yards to the left of the fairway good hole. Hole 11 a short par 4 so tempting to go for the green off the tee all you need to do is hit a high faide but all you need to do is hit a 6 iron over the fairway bunker leaving a small iron to the green another good hole. hole 17 par 4 sharpe dog leg left you need to hit your tee shot about 210 down the right side of the middle to get a good look at the green then your shot to the green take some hitting. Hole 18 if you have enough left in the tank this hole is up hill all the way which adds a good 30 yards to the hole and when you get to the green you have the club house very close to the green so some more presure on when you putt out.

Have played this course several times in the past year or so as a couple of colleagues are members here.
The course offers a firm but fair challenge to golfers of all levels requiring you to use virtually every club in the bag across its variety of holes. Although set in the hills above Rotherham the course is not too tough a walk and you don't often suffer from unfair bounces on some of the sloping fairways. The greens are in excellent condition and run at a fair old pace.
Although none of the holes have a "Wow!" factor,by the same token none can be classed as poor or "fillers" and at £14.50 a round the green fee is good value.
A good choice of drink is available at the bar and the food is excellent. Would definitely recommend you try this fine municipal.

This course is now a pleasure to play on and as a member I have no problems with inviting anyone to come and play all year round. The hard work of the new team of green staff is now paying off with the addition of new drainage around the course, the introduction of new well placed bunkers, much improved and consistant putting greens and a big improvement the general course maintenance. The facilities off the course has also improved with new male and female changing rooms and toilets a well stocked Pro shop with fully qaulified and friendly staff. The bar and restaurant area has a full range of alcholic refreshments which is maybe just what you need after your round of golf, there is also food available all day and all served by young polite and attractive members of staff. So all in all they now offer a great package and somewhere no longer to be over looked and all this is down to the new management and great staff keep up the good work.

As a member of the club i cannot help but admire the course. It seems like during every round i play the course improves. The Grange is a very tranquil and yet excting place to play, especially in the summer.
This parkland course is situated on the hills in the outskirts of Rotherham. The 5th, 8th, 10th 14th and 18th holes give you panoramic views of the beautiful landscapes of Sheffield. The course may be short but you will strggle to find a flat lie making it tough for the best of golfers. The greens are tremendous and are maintaines with heavenly devotion by our top-class greenkeepers.
During the summer the course plays quite short. However do not think this is to your advantage; the hard fairways may give you an extra 50 yards but they may also run you off into the rough. The hard greens make keeping the ball on the green difficult even with a decent amount of spin. In the summer a great deal of touch and imagination is required in order to shoot low scores. During the summer the course plays very much like a links course so bring your 'A' game with you.
During the winter the course is somewhat dissapointing. In the past oor drainage and unsuitable soil conditions tears the course to pieces. However this year a new drainage system has been in built into the heavily affected of places so all members are in question whether this will stop floods and bogs.
Perhaps the finest hole on the course is the 19th, a fanatstic clubhouse! The clubhouse regularly serves up the finest in lunch time meals and snacks as well as offering an assortment of alcohol. The hospitality in the clubhouse is second to none; anyone in there will join you for a conversation and a pint which will leave you will a warm feeling as you depart.
This course IS the finest municipal golf course in Yorkshire!!!

the prices on the course have recently changed for people who used to pay adult prices the youth age has gone up to 18 so:
Mon-Fri - £4.40 per round
Sat-Sun - £5.50 per round (same applies for bank holidays
over all the course is excellent during the week and also the position of the flags on the greens are change along with the t-off to create a differant challenge each week.
