Not the most fearsome of links courses but a really good test of your game.

The par 3s are really varied and excellent and all hug the coastline making club selection devilishly difficult on windy days. Even the shortist of the short holes, the 7th which is only 100 yards long, plays over a deep gorge to a sliver of a green and is a real kneetrembler.

The course drains well and is always in good condition.

The members are very friendly and there are no hiers and graces in the clubhouse.

Highly recommended.

Another of these links courses you don't actually realise is there. The club is situated through a residential area but is all the other side of a railway embankment. With the steep bank there, the course is all that separates you from the sea....and what a good course it is too! Fast greens, long rough, some interesting flowers and fauna for those of you with green fingers....it really has everything, especially if the wind blows.

The clubhouse is pleasant, relaxed and serves good food and a good range of drinks. It may not be the first choice for a golfing destination, but if your up there, I'd recommend you make the detour to this club. The members are also very friendly and I'm sure someone would give you a game!

What a little gem of a course. I played it in The Northern Counties Seniors July 2007 Some long hard holes but a few short par 4s to give you a birdie chance.Wonderful short holes, course in great condition. How come this course is not so well known.I will go back anytime.

This golf course is a hidden gem in my eyes, yes difficult 2 find but worth the effort. Not the hardest of starts but if you play with the natural draw you could b in trouble because all the trouble is down the left. The holes to remember are the 7th,11th,14th in my eyes,if the wind blows this can be a real test, the greens are fast and true. The clubhouse is nice and pleasent and the members are very friendly.

Rocky (England) 07/11/99

Monday October 25th 1999,- Hartlepool Golf Club hosted the inaugural 'Slyder' Cup of,

'Caps' v 'Pates'

Teams: Caps Pates

Rocky (captain) Stud (captain)

Egg Fugitive

Mad Dog Sloth

Horn Tealady

Rake Norman

The course played long and in the end was the winner. After the morning singles the 'Caps' held a commanding lead of 4 : 1. The 'Pates' however did not give up. To quote the captain Rocky, during his lunchtime pep talk,- 'I have a good feeling about this'. He was wrong! The Caps went on to win 6 : 4 and picked up an extra point for the lowest combined 'Net' scores.

So its congratulations to the Caps who will defend the Slyder Cup in October 2000 at Hartlepool Golf Course.

A special mention must be given to Cap player 'Norman' who destroyed all opposition and was the only player to really master the course.

Our day was saddened when on leaving the course we heard of the tragic death of Payne Stewart. Although none of the Tour members had ever met Payne, he was someone for who'm we had tremendous respect, because he was a gentleman.

'May the course be with you'
