A challenging par 72, best for mid handicapers. As a young member i can manage the hills week after week but i wouldn't recomend it for anyone old.Good driving range and par 3 course.Only a 5 minute drive from the town centre or Battle.

As the organiser for a Society I aim to secure good value for money if we have "awaydays". Nothing was too much trouble for the management, from particular needs for breakfast to booking cabs for hardy souls to go out for the evening. Both food and lodgings were excellent. The course itself is really in two halves. The front nine is really for players who enjoy a little pain with their play. It is a true test of golf for all standards of play with most holes needing accurate tee shots or the ability to shape the ball. Only one hole on the front 9, the 5th, stands out as being particularly hilly. The back 9 is for true masochists with at least 3 holes almost requiring crampons to climb the slopes. That said we, as a society, played 45 holes in 2 days and all agreed that it was an enjoyable, if very tiring, experience. Not one to do every week but certainly worth a visit.

You will really know you've played 18 holes at the end of this course. This woodland course is very demanding physically - hills only begins to describe it. A mixture of wide and narrow fairways, short and long holes. Good birdie opportunities on some of the holes, whilst others require some good golf to complete. Stunning views of surrounding countryside. Some excellent holes plus some that will really test your skill and stamina. The 11th par 3, sees you tee off about 100ft higher than the green, whilst the 14th awaits you where the final 160 yrds are uphill at almost 45 degrees. On the 17th, you'll wonder just how many times you've got to go up and down hill before you finish. Highly recommended, if only for the experience!
