Friendly staff made us welcome

2fore1 made the course good value. Would still have paid the full price just once. Would play again using 2fore1 but not for full price.

Tees and fairways in good condition and pleasant to use although there were still a few mats.

Bunker conditon was variable (eg a rock bigger than a ball), but then they are supposed to be a hazard!

Greens were true and interesting to read, although a little slow because the grass has hardly started to grow yet this year.

...And so to my favourite part...the terrain which everyone has commented on. All the holes were up, down or side hill and I thoroughly enjoyed making the shots required. Of course, many of the holes were blind and if you want to keep your score low then you may get frustrated ending up in an unseen hazard. The 14th for example is a par 5 with 2 fairway markers and a green marker because you can't see the end of any shots as you crest the hill, apart from maybe your puts!

Get a 2fore1, get a half set and a carry bag and enjoy!

This was a new course for all four of us.

It is a handsome parkland course set on a modest hill. Quite short at 5508, but quite difficult.

I felt that it was a course not well suited to strangers as too many holes were blind and the fairways had lots of slopes.

The course was well presented.

By our standards this was a fairly expensive course.

The lunch sandwiches were good. The bar had one cask ale (Pride) priced at £3.25 (for visitors. This is an all-comers record price for the home counties. So, we did not visit the bar afterwards for our meal but went to a nearby recommended pub – The Crown (IPA at £2.25).

The changing room was effectively out of use because a carpet was being laid. The helpful chap in the shop had not mentioned that when I arranged the visit.

When we went off at our appointed time the course filled behind us entirely with two balls! Although the card directs one to let two-balls through we had to stop letting them through as we could have become completely stationary. So, up on us all the time. I found later that this was mostly a ladies’ “Competition” which they played in twos.

What a course! Up hill and down dale it is not for golfers with pacemakers. But a course for those who like a challenge it is. There are many blind shots, and at times you must be aware which green you are playing to, but here your use of the contours and your awareness of the weather is vital for success, and your mastery of it the source of much enjoyment. This course begs to be played several times, and is not the choice for a one-off game in poor weather. This is a place where a light breeze can be turned into a windy day by the contours. It is a fair test for and a good contest between the long hitter and the cannier player.

The greens and fairways are well-kept and the bunkers always have enough sand. Divots are replaced here and pitchmarks are repaired. The bunkers are always raked.

The club is very friendly and welcoming, and the pro and bar staff alike welcoming and jovial. For me, I could have played it better with some local knowledge, but I will definitely be beck!

On a sunny spring day this was a thoroughly good day out.

Despite having a really good round on the day I played, this is not a course I would be in a hurry to return to. The main reason being I didn't find navigating my way around the course a particularly enjoyable experience. There are an awful lot of blind shots, mainly due to the course being fitted up and down a very deep sided valley. The 1st sets the tone as an almost vertical descent, where you can't see the green, nor any hazards until you are right on top of them. Unless you are very familiar with the course, or are prepared to spend time walking back and forth to check out the lie of the land and risk being abused for slow play, there is a large element of hit and hope. If you don't mind the quaint topography it is a well maintained, fairly mature parkland course that represents reasonable value to the visitor on a 241.

Hazlemere Golf club is a great place to learn your golf,as it has 3 very good coaches, the course is in very nice shape at the moment. It is playing very difficult with the damp fairways and windy conditions. The junior section is great and you dont fill left out when you enter compititions because theys alway someone making jokes on the first tee.

I am a junior member at hazlemere golf club and i play of 12. The junior section is fantastic and is extremly well run. I must say hazlemere is very hilly and you hardly ever get a flat lie. This makes your club selection vital and your approach shots must find the right tier or you face some very tricky putts.
