The layout of this course is more interesting than the view off the 1st tee would suggest. There are some really nice holes,, but some crappy ones too. The sole reason that hill top is quite low on my list of courses to return to, is the length of the grass. Lost balls from drives that hit the fairway or in the “semi” (ha!) rough just aren’t fun! Cut the bloody grass and I would happily come back!!!

Played the course today (31 May 06) the fairways where a little bit rough and the rough well was more than rough. A couple of the greens where in poor condition. As for the bunkers more like little lakes and those without water lacked sand. It was my first visit to a council run course and was not that impressed. I only played the back 9 but the amount of people waiting for the first tee was very off putting and felt rather rushed and conveyor belt like
Another visit to another council course may be required to see if this is the standard or not. PLaying in a society has spoilt me as we only play on private courses where greens fairways etc are much better.

Not a bad course can be very enjoyable when i doesn't take 5-6 hours to get around it!!! If you are thinking of playing on a weekend think again and play somewhere they don't let groups of 6 tee off every 5 min's just to make a bit of extra cash!!! Other than that it's not to bad!!!

Reasonable course only. Fifth fairway was main grumble- 100 geese in front of me when driving off. That was OK in itself, but the mess on fairway was off-putting. Aldo some of the greens had just been varigated which made them poor. Other minor grumbles, but actually a testing course, and very good value.
One final thing, if you have signs up asking for players to rake the bunkers, actually having rakes to hand can be quite useful

Testing course with a large lake all along the fourth hole. The ninth is a uphill par four of 473 yards which is hard to reach in two. It is also on the Birmingham Link card with seven other course`s in the area, costing just £7.00 for 18 holes. A good testing course for all standards of players. The only downside is the cafe closes early, about 4pm.
