I was lucky enough to play this course as a courtesy round given to my home club. The course is a good test for all levels of golfer and is a delight to play. The front nine is visually stunning and rewards aggressive play. The whole cours was in excellent condition and lives up to it's reputation as one of the finest in the country. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the half way house is worth a visit on it's own. I would recommend this course to all serious golfers.

Played here midweek March 06 (£30 using a County Card )

A classic treelined heath & heather beauty thats on a par with the best in Surrey ( Woking etc.).

Straight away it feels classy .The front 9 winds it's way through two valleys with steep banks of trees & there are several dramatic elevated tee shots .The back 9 is more easy walking .

Individually, each hole on the course is visually impressive .It's quite a physically demanding course & the 18th is one of the toughest par 4 finishing holes that i've played .

The course was well maintained & the greens were immaculate ( the best i've seen this winter )& very quick .

Anyone who plays here won't come away disappointed.

Hindhead is two very different nines but they add up to one excellent round of golf.

The course is laid out over some spectacular and very intriguing golfing topography. The front nine plays largely in and around the bottom of two valleys, whereas the back nine runs around a ridge area on higher ground.

The strength of the course is the consistent quality of the layout – the good holes just keep on coming. That said, in my mind, there aren't the truly wonderful holes that would help propel this course into the UK & Ireland's Top 100 list; however, there aren't any noticeably weak ones either, possibly apart from 13 and 15).

There's also a suitably tough finish: the final two holes are both very demanding par 4s (408 and 441 yards respectively, the latter also uphill), which are likely to require at least long irons and possibly woods for the second shot.

Scattered throughout the course, there are large swathes of heather which, as usual, are a golfer's nightmare and best avoided!

We played back at the end of October and found the course to be in excellent condition.

Definitely an experience to add to your golfing CV.

I have played Hindhead many times over the past 20 years and still marvel at the scenery and the challenge.

There is nothing better than being on the 4th fairway at 8am hearing the birds chirping away and not a sound of a car can be heard.

I should also add that the cource is challenging and you do need to hit the fairway - or take a plentyful supply of balls !

The greens are superb and still fast in the wet

I have played many courses but always come back to this one.

It is a must play course if you can keep your ball on the fairway - else your in heather !!

Go on try it

Dear Sirs

I would be grateful if you would pass on my details to Mr Ray Pope and ask him to e-mail me any details of the late Adrian Handley, who I understand passed away in 1997.

I was very sorry to hear about Adrian's death, as I played squash with him during the 1980s.

Yours sincerely
