A nice 9 hole municipal course very suitable for beginners before they take the plunge to join a golf course. A very laid back dress code, which is good for encouraging those new to the game, particularly youngsters. The course is not without challenge with the first 2 holes having a stream and out of bounds very tight on the right hand side. Maintenance of the course is fair, baring in mind the number of hackers that attack it. The main downside is that it can become very slow, especially if you have a 4 ball of complete novices in front. I once walked in having played only 4 holes which took over one and half hours. It is also sometimes a bit dirty underfoot due to the flock of Canada geese that often regard it as home. It would be difficult to find cheaper golf.

the green fees are fair enough a very tricky little nine hole second hardest in the country according to a report i read in a certain golf mag many years agoits a pity about the wildfowl and there mess and dress sense of some people but its not a private run club (i now belong to one)its a good learning course mr

Good course for beginners - nice open fairways but perhaps a bit lacking in variety. Greens great at the moment (early June). Couple of blind holes to keep you on your toes. Mind the geese which seem to inhabit the course at the moment!!

Locals all friendly, none of the obnoxious prats you seem to parade around other courses...

Green fees reasonable as well. Good value for money.

Hurst is a very challenging course but it is fantastic fun.In clubhouse there is a great atmosphere, everyone is friendly and they are always talking about golf. i am only 16 and i am one of the junior members my handicap is 11. i think that this pay and play course is exellent for begginers and will suit people of any age.

The Hurst golf course was the first ever course I played on when I was just 15 , now Im 19 and am still plaing there as it is such a godd course for amateurs , offering some tough and some easy holes and a range of diffrent shaped holes not usually seen in other courses. Excellent fun!!

Having recently played this course i am bewildered at the good couple of reviews offered on this website. The only thing i can find to agree with is the reasonable green fee charged, Good value for sure.

But,,come on people,,do you really play on many courses locally if you feel this is an excellent course?

The clubhouse is ramshackle with a matching atmosphere and facilities, the fairways to their credit act as host to much of the accompanying lakes webbed footed wildlife, but unfortunately also to the aforementioneds waste!! EVERYWHERE, spikes, trolley, ball, ugh!

The greens are possibly one of the redeeming features of the course.

In summary, best served as a warm up or pitch and putt practice round. As usual, the dress standard is non existent, jeans? trainers? collarless t-shirts? come on people make an effort.
