Ingol Golf Club Player Reports

Played yesterday, after some wet weather and it was not in great nick. It seems that they are moving from membership to muni, and sadly it shows, tee's were poor, pitchmarks on greens were mostly unrepaired as were divots on the fairways. Too much grass on the fairways but could be due to heavy rain 3 days ago. Quite tight but not as bad as thought it would be from some reports on here. The worst thing was the roaming Chavs, out with 2 clubs hacking in all directions and the random Yoof, one who was driving a buggy around the course at breakneck speed, presumably he was employed but to do what we'll never know. The dress code is ignored of course, which to some is great, to others its the end of the world,

That said for £12 its value.

Played Ingol today for the first time. I did think it was in good condition, with nice fastish greens, and well maintained fairways. I thought that the course was very tight, with mostly narrow holes with little opportunity to really hit a screamer!

Some really daunting holes too, with houses literally 20yards to the side of Tee beds, so you gotta be careful (i fluffed a couple, and one hit a roof and one landed in a driveway!).

There is one really good par three'er, where you hit off an elevated tee down a big drop to the green.

One thing to bear in mind though when you play here is that its a long complicated walk round. We cheated a little and rented a buggy, but its location amongst a few housing developments means that the course winds round loads.

All said and done though, its a good course. Would play here again. Nice friendly well stocked bar. 8/10

Played the course 12-5-07, having read earlier comments i felt i was on a totally different course. The course was in excellent condition, enjoyed the course immensley ,fairways were lush and greens were in excellent nick.Well worth a visit and will definately play there again.

Pro shop was a bit pricey and not well stocked.

Bar service was very good and the food served was excellent along with the service.

I would not hesitate playing Ingol again and would definatly recommend playing there.

Ingol is one of the oddest courses you will ever play. It is crammed in between a series of housing developments, you cross various roads to get to different parts of the course. There is no course map on the card so first time visitors really are guessing as to where they are going. That is something they really should look at, as until you play it you won't understand the difficulty you have in getting from hole to hole. It really is quite bizarre.

That said, there are some very good holes on this course, with a bit of thought going into hole design. Iron play off the tee will feature on many players round as there are some extremely tight holes, but that said there are still some holes that you can open up with a driver on.

When we played it was in pretty reasonable nick. The greens ran pretty well, the tees could have been better but overall it was ok. Off course was fine, we were made to feel welcome by the pro and staff, and the catering was very good.

I wouldn't rush back to play it as I did find it such a bizarre layout, but by the same token I wouldn't say "never again" nor would I discourage anyone from taking a look at it.

Played Ingol 10.12.06. Found the course very wet and ball plugged wherever it landed (but we expected this of any course for this time of year) The course is surrounded by houses and I thought I was going to play irons all the way round but when I got there it was'nt as bad as i'd of thought. Greens were in quite good condition as well. Played off mats but NO winter greens. £15.00 a round was great value for money at a weekend. Will play it again for definate. Pro-shop welcoming but very disappointed with the bar, would'nt let one of our members in because he had a collarless shirt on, which I thought was a bit petty as he looked better dressed than the other 7 of us. I played quite well and so enjoyed it, another member of our 8 party had a nightmare and so hated it. Its all down to the individual.

When i last played at Ingol in September of 2005, the tees, fairways and greens were in terrible condition. This golf course has far too many housing developments on it. You spend much of your time making sure your tee shots don't hit surrounding rooftops rather than concentrating on hitting fairways. I definately won't be rushing back.
