It's surprising that this course is not better known. I played 36 holes yesterday and found it delightful and testing.
The weather was fine and dry but breezy. The holes were in a variety of directions, with the wind from all directions, and with holes favouring a fade or a draw in equal measure. The Par 3's were tricky and the greens excellent.
It is easy to lose balls, and course knowledge is an advantage.
The staff in the clubhouse were charming and helpful.

We played Purdis Heath last Friday morning as a small society of 20, preceded by an excellent full English breakfast at the club that we had prebooked. We were welcomed by the Secretary on arrival and were off on time on a really beautiful course that was equally well manicured. Each hole is completely different and, as has been said elsewhere, very similar to the classic heathland courses of Surrey. A marvellous experience and not to be missed.

I have been fortunate to have played Purdis Heath just the once. I enjoyed the course so much I requested if there were country memberships available.
The course offers all things to all golfers and combines these with an attention to detail which I have never seen outside of the likes of Wentworth, Woburn etc.
If I was lucky enough to live in the vicinity I would seel my soul to play this course on a daily basis.
Truly in my eyes one of Britains hidden gems
