We played this course as a society 20 strong June 2004 in excelant weather. We experienced a very positive attitude from the staff, pleasant contact with members we came accross. We were allocated a starter who was very friendley and helpful.
Our group has a cross section of handicaps from single figures through to 22, but thr majoriety off low teens. We all suffered the same two problems on the day: the lack of sand in allmost
all the bunkers (a depth of 1/2 inch) and very hard greens. We found it impossible to stop a ball struck from 100 yds or less, it just bounced once or twice and was off the back!
However the fairways and tees were in good condition, the tree lined fairways demanded a straight tee shot, and not allways a driver. The winning score of 37 points (by a "bandit" 18 H'capper) showed the rest of us how it could be played!!
The changing room was roomy with good showers.
Our three course meal was excelant, served on hot plates by pleasant staff, jackets and ties were required in the lounge, allways a nice touch.
A finale comment, the Club captain introduced himself later in the evening and sort feed back on our day, an attitude more clubs could follow to ensure repeat visits.

I throught that this coure was in excellent condition and the greens were electric. Playing of a handicap of 3 i found this course quite hard as it is tight and even through it has many driverable par 4's they are all well bunkered and protected. The course is currently being devolped to make it longer and a much harder test. I also found the new par 3 14th a test as hitting the green is a must as it slopes of into trouble on all sides of the green.
Overall the coure was in excellent condition and well worth the £13. The clubhouse could be improved but was adaquate.

A relatively short course and some Par 4's may be driveable for the big hitter, but no real easy holes due to the length. Does have problems with the greens occaisionally but not especially worse than many courses. Does not take too much rain during wet periods in the winter before temporary greens are used. Currently extending the course (@ 21/12/01) to make it longer and a bit more challenging. Still a relatively pretty setting with many mature trees and obstructions for those who are wayward off the tee. Some of the fairways though are not clearly defined during the autumn and winter months and can be difficult to judge if you can "pick & place".
Definitely recommend playing with a member for cost reasons and actually ensuring you get out on the course in a reasonable time. Once on the course you can usually get round very quickly.
The food from the Bar is exellent value.

A Harry Vardon course, some 50 years old, which is relatively short but difficult nonetheless. Lots of trees & large bunkers keep the interest, with water coming into play on five holes. Greens were good when I last played, though they have a history of being pretty average in the winter. The course is currently being changed which affects about 3 holes, but apart from that its a pleasant course to play. The visitor fee is too high, so play with a member if you can.
