My home course although not a member. Always a challenge: virtually never off mats or playing temp greens. REAL golf, just you against the elements. With prevailing winds you can reach the 505 yard par 5 7th in two and feel like a he-man before failing to reach the par 4 8th with two woods back up the hill against the wind. Invigorating, proper golf. Good luck!

I have played Lewes a few times and never been disappointed. The greens have been in perfect condition on each occasion, along with very well prepared tees and fairways. It is fair to say that the wind can make the course tricky, but is only unplayable in exceptionally strong winds. Panoramic views of the Sussex countryside from the 8th Green (with the clubhouse of the East Sussex National in view in the distance) add to the experience. There are some tricky holes as well as some which are pretty straight forward. No water wazards, but plenty danger and some harsh rough for the wayward shot if the greenkeepers let it grow.

Staff in general were very friendly, especially the professional. Averagely good food in the clubhouse with more friendly staff.

To sum up, a course which is always in good condition, whose challenge does depend a fair bit on the strength of the wind. Excellent value for money - I have paid twice as much to play courses kept in nowhere near as good nick.

Lovely old fashioned golf course which offers true value for money. The course is always in very good condition with some of the best greens around. Because the course is on a chalk hill it drains very quickly so there are never temporary greens in use. The only problem with playing at Lewes is the wind!! If you are venturing out and there is any type of breeze at all make sure that you have an anchor with you as the course becomes practically unplayable!!

Reasonable food in the clubhouse, good value for money and a warm welcome. Would recommend.

course has some fantastic greenkeeping staff who make the absolute best of a bad situation. The only thing that I will say is that I have played this course in both no wind and with a bitter wind, and unless you like losing balls don't even attempt this place when its windy. Overall Freindly staff, nice views, challenging course, well worth a visit!

Lewes golf course is very hilly. The course has got some tricky holes and some which are not so difficult. I really like the course and rate it as one of the best I have ever played. My favourite hole is the par 3 twelfth. It is a short hole with a big green and woods on either side.
