Lickey Hills Golf Course Player Reports

I have been playing this course since I restarted playing 4 years ago and always find problems every time I play. Anyway, the reason I am writing this is that in the past few weeks I have found a very unusual tree on the course , to say the least. There are several specimens of differing heights to be found just across the stream on the 13th hole on the left side of the fairway. After 3 weeks of asking , looking in books , Webbs of Wychbold identified them for me. The trees are known as Caucasian Wing Nut with the botanical name Pterocarya fraxinifolia. The largest of the trees on the course is carrying hundreds of trailing catkin chains. a marvellous sight . as far as I am concerned there are no many specimens around. Have a look yourself and enjoy

Played Lickey June 28th 2007. I was at a conference at Rednal just down the road! I agree with all comments about the layout and condition. It is a real shame it is not a private course and maintained to a high standard because thee are some very interesting holes. Even though "jeans and teeshirt" brigade on the course I was let through by 4 groups! Something some private courses could do well to emulate! Steve Owen (Handicap 8)

The place hasn't changed in the two years from previous reports, it’s still on a lovely bit of turf and really nicely designed. Go mid-week, it’ll be quieter, and with a passport to leisure card (£4 for Birmingham residents, £15 for others) 18 holes are £7.50!! Not Micky Mouse short at 5500yards for a par 68 of the Yellows either.

Just played this course and found it to be in a good condition, played HillTop last week and wasn't inpressed. The only thing bad about this course is that it's not private, a bit more care and attention and this would be a fantastic course oh by the way just hit a 72.I will be returning very soon.

I have played this course on several occasions and each and every time i find another hazard to play against the course plays harder than it looks there are a few easier holes but on the whole it is quite a challenging course which should play really well come the summer months ideal for mid handicappers will definately play again

As said below if this cource was private and had enough money and time to get it in good condition it would be a lovely course, the layout is very nice, some great (??) views of birmingham, with some lovely and challenging holes. The condition is not perfect, and the little touches are missing; nice Tee markers, good pins etc...Having said that, its worth a visit, and a great place for a recent golfing convert
