Our society played this course at the beginning of September 2006. Fantastic is the only word you can use to describe this superb course. Every hole has its own character, the views are breathtaking [so are the hills.] If you get the chance to play there take it and enjoy.

Our little society enjoyed a visit to this lovely course yesterday. We all agreed that Llanymynech GC is one of the most scenic courses you could wish to play. It presented a stiff challenge even on a fairly still day. It was in beautiful condition, especially the greens, which were fast and true. You do need to be accurate rather than long on most holes, but you can get the driver out too. It's a bit of a climb and those who elected to take a buggy were smiling by the end. The members and staff were friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely recommend that you visit if you are in the area.

Our Golf Society paid its 7th visit to Llanymynech in May 2005 and we hope to return many times again in the future.
Llanymynech is one of those courses that is hard to describe just how good it is to anybody who has never been before.
Beautiful golf holes in a beautifully unique setting.....and if your game isn't up to much you can take in the panoramic views which stretch for miles.
Despite not being the longest course, the variety of holes, undulating terrain and exposure to the wind make for a tough challenge. The greens are small and in summer are like putting on glass, you don't see many bunkers either as the approaches to most greens are tough enough.
Off the course is just as good, with a friendly reception from the Secretary, Caterers, Staff and members alike.
Llanymynech is a "must play" golf course, if you can find it! Don't worry if you can't pronounce it, get yourself down there and enjoy.

THIS COURSE IS A REAL GEM. HOLE FOR HOLE IT HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST I'VE PLAYED. IT PRESENTS A REAL CHALLENGE FOR ALL LEVELS. THE PAR 3'S (APART FROM THE 1ST) ARE MAGNIFICENT, ESPECIALLY THE 10TH WHICH HAS A REAL INTIMIDATING TEE SHOT. THE COURSE OFFERS MAGNIFICENT VIEWS OVER SHROPSHIRE AND WALES, BE CAREFUL ON THE 12TH TEE THERE IS A SHEER DROP ABOUT 10 YARDS BEHIND THE TEE BOX. I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE THERE IN A GALE!!! THE COURSE FAVOURS A PLAYER WHO CAN HIT THE BALL RIGHT TO LEFT OFF THE TEE. I FOUND THAT THE KEY TO A GOOD SCORE IS THE TEE SHOT, GET THE BALL IN PLAY AND THE APPROACH TO THE GREEN IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT. APART FROM THE 1ST WHICH IS TOTALLY OUT OF PLACE ALL HOLES ARE MEMORABLE, BUT ESPECIALLY THE 10TH, 11TH & 15TH. THE HARDEST HOLE ON THE COURSE IS BY FAR THE PAR 4 12TH WHICH AT 432 YARDS PRESENTS A TOUGH TEST. ONCE PLAYED I GUARANTEE YOU'LL WANT TO COME BACK. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

This course is a real gem set on a hilltop where the Welsh leader Caradog once fought off the Romans. It has superb panoramic views over the Welsh hills to the west and the Shropshire plain to the east. This was Ian Woosnams home course. The course is playing really well with the greens tees and fairways in superb condition. Every hole is different but probably the 11th and 12th are the most spectacular. A great venue for a weekend away combined with the Vale of Llangollen and Oswestry courses.
