Malden Golf Club Player Reports
Anton Irons (England) 28/01/08
Just to say that I fundamentally disagree with the negative report from John Felipe. Having visited and played at the club today I can only say that it would have been hard to have had a warmer reception from the Pro through to some members before we teed off and then the bar staff in the evening. The course was in good condition and it was an interesting an enjoyable round of golf, involving a bit of thinking to negotiate the various hazards including water on several holes. Thank you for a good day and I will be visiting again.

Not a bad course at all. Not the most challenging but good value and a nice clubhouse. Members were friendly. No real "wow" holes but a perfectly pleasant day

Just to say that we had a society day at New Malden and everyone was friendly (including members) and the staff were very helpful. Sad to hear about the bad experience - some members can be a pain in the butt but we were very happy with New Malden. Liked the course too although personally I'd have all the trees chopped down and the bunkers filled in!

My name is Robert Hunter, I am the professional at Malden Golf Club, I remember the day so described by Mr Filipe on the web site, I will not go into the reasons why Mr Fillipe did not apparently enjoy his day.
Malden golf club has a well deserved reputation for its warm and friendly welcome, unfortunatly this web site gives the opposite impression. One written complaint carries more weight than a thousand verbal plaudits, and whilst we are sorry that Mr Fillipe and his friends will never visit us again, we do beleive that his comments should either be removed after so many months or at the least this answer should be available.
many thanks
Robert Hunter.

Turned up in a group of eight at approximately 9.00 am mid December. Enquired about having a coffee before we started our round and was informed that was not possible, quite rudely I may add, even though there was a group of members around a table with tea and coffee. We immediately got the impression we were not wanted at the club and in hindsight should heave left there and then. We paid our green fees and proceeded to the first tee where we wre informed we should wait as a group of members were going out before us. We were then kept waiting for between 10 and 15 minutes while this group of members poodled about from the pro shop to the tee, in no obvious hurry. The course itself is quite nice and in very good condition for this time of year. It would benefit if there were yellow or red stakes positioned around the many streams meandering through the course, as there were quite a few balls lost by our group who had no idea there were water hazards on certain holes.( no course guide available) All in all, our group found this club to be the most unpleasant we have encountered in the last 10 years of playing golf. We are all competent golferts, handicaps ranging from 8 to 24, so we are not new to the game. We each paid £15.00 to play this course using 2 fore 1 vouchers, but because of the rude attitude of the members, staff and greenstaff not one of our group will ever play here again. Enjoy your old fashioned golf club mentality Malden, but remember when you are struggling to attract people to your course, politeness would'nt go amiss.

MALDEN IS NOT A LONG OR HARD COURSE BUT HAS TO BE TREATED WITH A BIT OF RESPECT TREE LINED FAIRWAYS DEEPISH ROUGH WELL PLACED BUNKERS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH THE BEVERLEY BROOK WANDERS AROUND THE COURSE WAITING TO CATCH ANOTHER UNSUSPECTING GOLF BALL /THIS COURSE CAN STILL BE ENJOYED BY ALL STANDARDS OF GOLFER (HIGHER HANDICAPPERS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF BALLS)
