A very good couse played Derwent 9 holes first very enjoyable then Welham, holes on this 9 are very good and quite hilly. On the Park course some interesting dog legs. Good welcome and all for £28 day ticket. Beware in the middle of the course for stray balls a tin hat is recommended. Also very popular with societies which gives a varied variety of golf being played, perhaps a handicap requirement may help

Taking into account the 27 holes, excellent clubhouse facilities, price and the welcome you recieve here, there cannot be many places better than M&N to enjoy a days golf. Play the Derwent course in the morning, this is a newish addition, wide open with many water hazards, but huge fun to play. After lunch get down to the serious business of the Welham course. This starts with a very demanding long uphill par 5. The first 4 holes in particular are very classy with quite a bit of elevation, the course then settles into fairly flat mature parkland and is a fine example of this type of course. Excellent in design it serves up a good selection of holes you'll never tire of playing, in a most tranquil atmosphere. Attractive, peaceful, challenging and welcoming....I wish I were there now - 8.5/10

A mature course set on a wonderful vale-side on Welham Road ,Norton, Malton, this course has everything. There are three loops of nine consisting of the 'Welham' which contains holes 1-9 developed in the 60's, the 'Park' has holes 10-18 laid out in the 30's and the newest nine 'Derwent' which was opened in the mid-nineties. Each loop has different characteristics - Welham is hilly, rising to the Wold top; the Park is a typical mature "parkland" loop; and the new Derwent has a 90's feel about it with raised greens and water hazards.

Catering is excellent value, pro's shop massive with coaching from Steve Robinson (club Pro)and Chris Tyson his assistant, and excellent practice range with bunkers and greens. This excellent facility boasts current England internationals in Simon Dyson and Emma Duggleby. It is a progressive club and has an "athletic" rather than "athritic" air about it. As for a test of golf, the package of 9 holes am, lunch and 18 holes pm is not to be missed by visitors who flock to this marvellous complex.

Check out hole 1 (longest first hole in England till recently), hole 4's views across the moors towards Pickering and hole 21 which requires skill and accuracy on both drive and approach shot over a hollow and onto a raised green guarded by water. Greens are undulating and difficult to read, but this all adds to the sense of fun.

If you get a chance - go!
